@henrywinter Inconsistent league performances (especially away), late goals conceded and the Sunderland performance have been cause for frustration this season but he should be backed. Gets the club, works hard, is shameful for any fans calling for his head. Be careful what you wish for. 2/2

@henrywinter Eddie Howe is a top head coach and the top English head coach. The job he has done at NUFC is excellent, a trophy, 4th, 7th, 5th place finishes in PL and 2 x CL campaigns is no disgrace and exactly what us NUFC fans have wanted since the days of the great Sir Bobby. 1/2

Eddie Howe continuing to do good things with Newcastle United. Another semi-final. No surprise. Good head coach. Would Newcastle get a better manager who cares as much as Howe does about the team and club? He had a difficult, disrupted summer but got on with it. Derby defeat and the lack of fight was dispiriting but they bounced back. Fans support him. Showed that at St James’ Park last night; their chants for Howe came over loud on TV. Deals with injuries, especially defensively, Howe doesn’t complain, gets on with it. Players work hard for him. Miley stepping in at right-back and stepping up to the challenge. Always good to see local players in those black-and-white shirts rather than going south early (Shearer, who did famously return, Carrick etc) or sold for PSR (Anderson). Local Hero should be a club theme as well as tune. Along with savvy signings. Wissa gives that threat in behind, a pacey predator, his movement for goal v Fulham was clever, losing marker. Murphy/Wissa understanding could be fruitful. Wissa can rotate with Woltemade but be fascinating to see them as split strikers; an obvious 10/9 blend. Newcastle now need to build on this. Two big games coming up, Chelsea at home (and a thought for the travelling fans with a Saturday 12.30 ko), then Manchester United away (and a thought for the travelling fans with a Boxing Day 20.00 ko). Whatever happens, Howe deserves the support he gets from fans and players. And some backing from the board in the January window. Newcastle are strongest when united. #NUFC

@SkySports_Keith Both statements are pathetic and totally embarrassing. The club shouldn’t be resorting to this kind of response and the poor advice Isak is receiving clearly continues. Isak looks like a spoilt brat and the club look like an incompetent parent unable to control their unruly child

🚨 BREAKING: #NUFC statement in response to Alexander Isak’s statement tonight: NEWS ALERT *Newcastle United Statement - Alexander Isak* We are disappointed to have been alerted to a social media post by Alexander Isak this evening. We are clear in response that Alex remains under contract and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer. We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes and we listen to their views. As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired. We do not foresee those conditions being met. This is a proud football club with proud traditions and we strive to retain our family feel. Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates.

@NUFCblogcouk Totally embarrassing from him tbh. The poor advice he’s receiving continues. No way back for this snake now - I’m shocked at how he’s playing this out.

@NUFC As good as our midfield 3 are, having a mid ahead of the ball and receiving it in space is an exciting prospect. Top signing #nufc

@Red____Rex Exactly - this isn’t about delaying a move to avoid one fixture, it’s about professionalism. You sign a 6 year deal with no clause then you honour it or work with the club to find a solution, you don’t refuse to play.

@michaelcox187 "If he wanted flexibility to leave"... Very good point.

@Red____Rex I get the theory but I disagree. If Newcastle were holding out until after 25th that’s still very different to what is happening here - a player refusing to play. If he wanted flexibility to leave easily his agent should have secured a release clause.

@michaelcox187 Isak is going to Liverpool. Transfer market closes last day of August and Newcastle v Liverpool is 25th of August. That's why there's a delay. Newcastle don't want him playing against them.💡 Newcastle are the bad guys in all this.

@bbcnewcastle @raisbeck10 This man doesn’t get dragged into the mud. Level headed, professional, respectful and in that respect a class above most modern managers. NUFC’s greatest asset.

Isak’s talent is undeniable. But how you handle moments like this will define how you’re remembered — by Newcastle fans and the football world. #nufc

Show some respect. Fire your agent. Look Eddie Howe in the eye — the man who built a team around you — and apologise. Then get back on the pitch and earn it.

Sky Sports are reporting that Tino Livramento was booed today? Did this actually happen or is it lazy reporting to fuel more rumours? #nufc #Newcastle

@robanderson001 All correct, except you are far more likely to get an email telling you you’ve been unsuccessful. Over the last two seasons, I have been successful in 1 ballot from around 20 entries.

I haven’t bought tickets since having a ST pre takeover. Advice please. Am I right in thinking, I can buy a membership for me & my son, can then enter ballot for every home game? I will then get an email to tell me if I have been successful? #NUFC

@ColinBrazierTV I spend a lot of time in Newcastle but live in Southampton and have to say the change has occurred much more rapidly in Southampton. Relatively speaking, Newcastle still retains a higher proportion of local workforce.

In Newcastle for the first time in years. A city in the process of rapid demographic change. It’s not unreasonable, xenophobic or backward-looking to ask: how has this happened so quickly; who authorised it; and where does it end?
