We’re so excited to see how this turned out at SpeakEasy 2026! Thank you so much to our board member, Melissa Greene, alumni Olivia Greene, and artist Matt Thone for helping our children and bringing this art piece to life!!

It may look like an ordinary day. Walking into school. Sitting in class. Snack time. Rest time. But behind every moment at MOSD is intention, expertise, and care. This is where listening begins. This is where language grows. This is where confidence is built.

The kids at MOSD had such a special day today; an egg hunt on the playground and a tea party in Pickler Hall! We are incredibly grateful to Beth Pickler and the @picklercompanies volunteers for creating such a fun and memorable experience for our students.

Real moments. Real progress. Learning to listen.
Learning to talk.
Learning to connect. This is what happens when children have access to sound, language, and the right support early. MOSD in action.

When hearing loss is identified early and children receive:
• hearing technology
• therapy
• language-rich environments They can build listening and spoken language alongside their peers. Early identification = early opportunity

Inside our audiology booth, Dr. Lunsford plays a sound through the headphones and waits… The moment she hears it does, she proudly places a block on her toy, looks up, and smiles. That tiny action tells us something powerful: sound is reaching her brain.

Children also need:
