Update: My mother was released last night after being detained by M23 in Bukavu. We are grateful for her release, but the situation remains critical. She has now been given an ultimatum until Monday, March 23, 2026, to leave our family home in Bukavu—under continued threats and intimidation. She was explicitly told that this is because my father is against them, Masunzu is against them, and Gasita is against them—therefore, she must leave. This clearly shows that civilians are being targeted based on perceived political positions and associations. This confirms what we have been saying: this is not an isolated incident, but part of a coordinated effort to target and silence our family for speaking out against the occupation in eastern DRC. We call on the international community, governments, and human rights organizations to urgently intervene, ensure her protection, and uphold the rights of civilians. The world must not stay silent. Pray for her safety. 🇨🇩 #Women rights matter. #Mothers rights mater. Rwandan Troops Out! #FreeEasternDRC
