taylor will never be as pretty as olivia no matter how much you ask generative ai to convince yourself otherwise 😕

@bazookussy @forgotoeat you said she’s “easily” the most important artist of this decade and im just arguing against that point
English

@mrbluemouth @forgotoeat no one denying that, i already agree with you on that. but pink on her own does not just change the landscape of pop music, but the formula and how you interact, promote music as well. i dont know why you want so badly for people to say olivia has the biggest impact though
English

realistically Pink will end up as a cult classic act, where every knows her and she holds a lot of cultural relevancy but never truly breakthrough the mainstream and reaches success like Olivia or Billie. However she is easily the most important artist from this decade
Ryan@NotRealMusic
For me, the only current Gen Z pop star that CAN be amongst the pop greats one day is PinkPantheress
English

@bazookussy @forgotoeat well electro pop and dance pop never went away either in that same regard 🤷
English

@mrbluemouth @forgotoeat but power ballads never went away. i already said shes a lyrical voice for this generation of young girls (and some gays) which was left vacant at the time. im just gonna leave this convo rn, because i do think pinkpantheress, olivia and billie are all 3 very impactful act!
English

@bazookussy @forgotoeat 2018-2020 were characterized by hip hop, trap pop, and disco pop — but nothing of the power ballad or pop rock sort. olivia single-handedly changed that in 2021.
English

@bazookussy @forgotoeat 2020 was the year in which dance and disco made a huge resurgence so people weren’t making universally impactful ballads then were they
English

@bazookussy @forgotoeat but that generation will shape the future sound of music, essentially, so in terms of the long run that’s why i see olivia far surpassing any of her peers
English

@mrbluemouth @forgotoeat that's why many tried to pop rock after a good 4 u but it doesn't really stick, because they're not olivia, therefore people don't really care that much for it, her strength has been her pov and her relatablity to this generation of audience
English

@bazookussy @forgotoeat well not really lol sombr is quite literally charting with pop rock music right now
English

@mrbluemouth @forgotoeat Nah everyone in the east is trying to follow Pink recipe but people have gave up on the pop rock sound after g4u
English

@forgotoeat @bazookussy it is too early to gauge out olivia’s impact but the fact that it’s already there says everything.. she’s only gonna have more impact down the line whereas pink will reach a limit soon due to her specific pop sound
English

@mrbluemouth @bazookussy To be clear, I’m not trying to downplay Olivia, I think she’s great! I just feel like impact-wise it’s too early to see Olivia’s true impact and so far in the 2020s Pink has already had her impact.
English

@bazookussy @forgotoeat but i can argue olivia reshaped dynamic/power ballads, and pop rock, on a grander scale as well
English

@mrbluemouth @forgotoeat Pink shaped so much of young audience approach to music and kinda bring a new approach to dance music that fits the youth taste. Olivia also make pop rock comeback in the mainstream, but I dont think its as strong as Pink overall
English

@forgotoeat @bazookussy pink has her niche but her music is not as multi-faceted and varied as olivia’s, and that’s completely fine, but that alone serves reason as to why olivia has been reshaping what mainstream pop can sound like, essentially, on a far grander and more versatile scale
English

@forgotoeat @bazookussy rock lol olivia has been one of the only artists - and the first this decade - to usher in any form of rock-adjacent music within the pop stratosphere; pop-rock, electro-rock-adjacent, piano-pop-rock, orchestral soft rock, etc. and all within her new album alone as well
English

@forgotoeat @bazookussy no not really… i don’t see how pink has contributed to her sector of pop music more than olivia has contributed to her own sector? so far, more artists have cited olivia as an inspiration and she’s forged a universal resonance amongst the public far greater than pink has
English

@mrbluemouth @bazookussy I think “importance” can come more down to influence and how one evolves a sound, popularizes one, etc. which we obviously will only see with time but at the moment I think it’s fair to say Pink has been more important culturally and musically than Olivia.

no he didn’t. you searched “josh dembling scooter braun” and found this variety article, in which another guy who has nothing to do with liv had his management company financed by scooter. variety.com/lists/hollywoo…

@mrbluemouth loved this so much. such a thorough a analysis of the music itself and of olivia's evolution as a songwriter and a vocalist. brilliant.

wrote an in-depth review of olivia’s album alongside @brutal4u___ that’s now posted on substack 🫶 link below
