Our new unified architecture allows Gemma 4 12B to process multimodal inputs natively. Here's how ⬇️
Traditional models rely on separate encoders for images and audio. This adds latency and increases memory usage. So we streamlined this:
👁️ Vision: We took a novel approach to replace the encoder with a lightweight embedding module, letting the LLM backbone take over visual processing.
🎙️ Audio: We removed the encoder entirely, projecting the raw audio signal directly into the same space as text tokens.

XKCD today xkcd.com/3253/ is totally right. Being aware of the geometry around us and that the sun moves 15 degrees per hour has helped me select seats many times.

What if I told you there is a tiny plant, hidden in the Nilgiri montane grasslands of the Western Ghats, that offers a masterclass in water conservation ? Hedyotis verticillaris is a remarkable plant whose rosette-shaped leaves trap and store water at their centre, creating miniature reservoirs in a landscape shaped by strong winds, mist and seasonal dryness. When summer dries the grasslands, wildlife including gaur, sambar and even the Nilgiri tahr are believed to sip from these tiny water stores. Every species therefore has a purpose. Every ecosystem has its own genius and we must learn to appreciate these wonders. #WorldEnvironmentDay #ClimateAction #NowForClimate Video: @supriyasahuias #TNForest

The Delhi High Court just ruled against Google in a trademark case that every Indian founder needs to know about!!
Hindware sued because searches for "Hindware" returned competitor ads - Cera, Grohe, above their own listing. Customers looking specifically for Hindware were being intercepted at the moment of highest intent.
The court ruled it trademark infringement. Competitor keyword bidding on your brand name is now legally actionable in India.
Search your brand name on Google right now.
If a competitor's ad appears before yours, you have a case, and your competitor has a problem.
This reshapes performance marketing in India. Keyword bidding on competitor names is standard practice across every category - beauty, fintech, edtech, D2C.
The brands doing it most aggressively are also the ones most exposed to this ruling. Let's see how this pans out.

India needs a law on to ban “surveillance pricing.” Zephyr Teachout a professor at Fordham School of Law coined the term:
When you book a cab (Uber) or an air ticket (Yatra) they charge you based on your browsing data and now AI will make targeting more personal. For example, when you buy online on Amazon, you may be quoted a price that is higher than others simply because data suggests that they never compare prices.
The data sets involved might include credit scores, GPS patterns, search duration, individual purchase histories and even keystroke dynamics that correlate with different emotional states. Colorado legislature passed a bill banning both surveillance pricing and surveillance wages.

Just learned about the concept of a “telescope ranch” in Texas.
People pay to have their $10,000+ telescope rigs set up in the middle of TX to avoid light pollution.
Every night the roof rolls back off the warehouses.
Then you can remote in to your telescope and use it from anywhere in the world.

Indians are spending more on Beverages & Processed Foods and less on Pulses & Cereals.
Rajesh Abraham🇮🇳@pendown
Interesting! Indian household isn't really spending on food anymore. Categories that got bigger are beverages & processed food, mobile phones and automobiles. #consumption

@somitsenTOI @grok & Gemini's response is that Greater Hyderabad (GHMC area) currently consumes more electricity than Mumbai, both in terms of peak demand & likely total/annual consumption.
Greater Hyderabad (GHMC area) which has half the population of Mumbai consumes more electricity!
English

@somitsenTOI Greater Hyderabad recorded highest-ever energy use on May 21st - 4,766 megawatt.
Is Mumbai's peak demand of 4300-4400 MW (as you mention) less than Greater Hyderabad?

I feel this might surprise people. India is not an outlier in population density as some might imagine looking at the headline number of 1.4 billion.
We are not necessarily too crowded as a country and we should not be pessimistic on that front. The real gap is that we haven't built enough infra yet to better support our population. It is building up and we should be super excited about how better things can be if we stay committed to building!

Pankaj Arora 🇮🇳@Panks_Arora
Every single place in India is just so overcrowded. - Want to go to a park? Hundreds are already there, not enough space. - Want to go to a temple? You won’t even get five minutes of peace. - Want to visit a hill station? Not a single hotel is available. - Same with Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and everywhere else. It feels like the calmest place is your own house.

A m-a-p s-p-a-m on palindromic place names in India!
Saw @_ansgar post a map of places in Germany whose name is a palindrome, so rehashed my old #30DayMapChallenge entry on it.

48°C is not just a temperature value anymore. It is becoming a national security, infrastructure, health and productivity challenge.
My latest @timesofindia op-ed argues that India needs a comprehensive heat mitigation strategy powered by:
• thermal mapping
• dense weather monitoring
• geospatial intelligence
• local-scale heat action planning
Because heat risk is hyperlocal, and one-size-fits-all solutions will fail.
