Luke Thomas is often a target for criticism, but then just about anyone is ripe for it. Even so, what the heck is this again? Loses his man. How many times do we see this kind of incompetence? From him and others. It’s basic.

Marti Cifuentes isn’t the main problem. The owners are. Years of poor recruitment, zero strategy, and little accountability. The result: yesterday, this season and a future in League One. Rock bottom is coming. Nothing will change until it does. And it must.

This has all the hallmarks of a manager that has lost the plot & given up. Players have given up. Fans divided & have given up. Owner hasn’t cared for years. Where do we go from here? Finances are beyond repair, points deduction imminent & a squad of overpaid players with an attitude problem. As unacceptable as our performances are, you cannot fix a sinking ship by swapping the captain. Sacking the manager just treats a symptom, not the cause. Good luck to Marti Cifuentes at Leicester City. Good manager and man-manager. Likeable, modest, hard-working individual who people instinctively warm to. I spent an hour in his company once, chatting over a coffee, all off the record, and came away enthused. Really hope he does well at Leicester, who desperately need a popular, engaging character to unite around. Board has to back Cifuentes fully by investing in the squad. Under-achieving players have to listen to him, respond and raise their game. Leicester's crop of academy prospects can certainly flourish under Cifuentes. And let’s hope those talents thinking of leaving the relegated club change their minds after some time in Cifuentes’ uplifting company. But he will need to adapt and tweak his preferred possession-fixated approach to more assertive football craved by Leicester fans. Encouraging to hear Cifuentes promise “joyful football…attractive, attacking football”. From a Vardy party to a Marti party? #LCFC 🦊

Gary O’Neil now a front runner for #lcfc job, with Rohl and Dyche out of the picture, I’m told. Rohl too complicated, Dyche has distanced himself. Chris Wilder still very much an option at this stage, with Leicester keen to progress the hunt.

A preferred candidate this week you say? Like, almost three months after our relegation was confirmed? Glad to see no time’s been wasted by our oh-so-impressive leadership team. #lcfc @lcfc

Leicester City owe their fans an explanation as to why it took so long to announce a decision on parting company with Ruud van Nistelrooy. Right decision but why the wait? It was clear a change was needed at the end of the season. Maybe it’s to do with the financial calendar or pursuit of a successor but Ruud didn’t deserve being left in limbo like this. The fans didn’t deserve the uncertainty. Recruitment and outgoings would have been complicated/delayed. Leicester have to get their next appointment right. Much is right about the Club - stadium, training ground, fanbase, some of the players, academy, community operation - but the mismanagement at board level is deeply frustrating. #LCFC 🦊

Important to remember that Trump isn’t trying to heal or keep the peace. He is looking to inflame and divide. His movement doesn’t believe in democracy or protest - and if they get a chance to end the rule of law they will take it. None of this is on the level.
