Good morning. Olympic Games number 8 begins today. It is always exciting. I will be commentating on the ice hockey across @BBCSport
Really looking forward to it.
🥅🏒
@HenryStaelens Lack of ice ability is very swiftly followed by lack of quality ice or facilities in general.
Some of the rinks, especially ones run by a certain company, are abysmal.
Have you been to Gosport lately ???
Once again, a questionable headline ...
But otherwise a good piece backed up by a slot on BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat.
Just to be clear, ice hockey is already a BIG deal :)
Circa 2million tickets sold each season in the UK, placing the sport firmly in the most popular team sports, and membership growing year-on-year.
The real issue? It's a classic one - supply and demand ... with waiting lists to join clubs up and down the UK, the lack of ice availability remains a bottleneck that needs to be resolved.
