Frontiers 2024 has been my favourite event of the year so far! Great talks and great group of people. Felt like a breath of fresh air from the usual BD events. No shilling of projects or tokens, and a great glimpse into the high performance computing innovations in the EVM space. Some personal highlights 🔽:

the best analogy for "why garden" is the premium on organic food in europe there's this concept of demeter produce. smaller farms, stricter standards, more constraints. people pay around 10-30% more for that quality in trading, there are platforms like binance that make tradeoffs to optimise for speed, cost, and liquidity we're working towards that level of accessibility too but starting from "no custody, no trust" changes how everything comes together and it turns out, a lot of people actually want that version first

Bittersweet today as @avantisfi hit an all time high in 24 hour volumes and fees ($1B volumes, $450K+ fees). Today was the deepest stress test of the platform, and what's interesting is a feature that's unique to Avantis, and helped save many traders from the liquidations: guaranteed stop-losses. Avantis uses composite oracles for pricing, and guarantees stop losses at a smart contract level. This means if you entirely slept through the cascade , your stops were filled at the EXACT price you asked for. This is reflected in our 24 hour fees: Less than 50% of the fees were from liquidations. Additionally, 25% of total fees were from profit sharing (win-fees only from profitable shorts). However, not everything went smoothly -> gas spikes on Base meant higher gas fees passed to users and full blocks meant some txns didn't land (and had to be retried repeatedly). Tangibly we're working on two things to address this: - Aiming to sponsor all gas on the platform (ETA: 3-4 weeks). Note: this will be a material expense for @avantisfi but one we believe will greatly improve trading UX (esp. when combined with social logins). - Working with @base on research, to find ways to improve transaction throughput and reliability.
