Concerning the reported extrajudicial k¥llng of Sani Salisu Basaura, I just spoke with his cousin, Ayuba Aliyu Basaura. He confirmed that Basaura is a town under Jega LGA, Kebbi State. The deceased, Sani, usually travelled to Ibadan, Oyo State, for his market activities. He was a trader who sold foodstuffs, but due to a lack of capital, he recently started riding an okada to meet his daily needs. During the last Sallah period, he returned home to celebrate with his family. He went back to Ibadan a few weeks ago, only for his family to later receive the tragic news of his untimely death. According to his cousin, the police stopped him and attempted to seize his motorcycle. During the struggle, one of the officers allegedly struck him in the chest, close to his heart.
