You cannot self-rate the PEGI rating on Steam. Probably the same for ESRB. On Steam, you have to fill out a survey with questions about the content (for example, nudity, violence, or other types of content). This gives an age estimate for certain countries like Germany, or Brazil, but Steam actually verifies the game's content. For my first game, they didn't do much checking. For the second game, they asked me to show them examples of scenes. But that was during a period of censorship with Visa, so maybe they were more demanding. Or maybe it was because there was more sexy content than in the first game. For the third game, it was like the first, they didn't ask me to show them any examples. But the game was also much shorter. Regarding the Indonesian content, it's probably either due to an AI visualizing the game's descriptions, images, or videos, or they're simply looking at the content survey I filled out on Steam.

@passing_nerd Krn ada gap yg cukup lama setelah draft awal, i dont know the final process, tp pendapat pribadi gue sih IGRSnya yg ngaco.

Gue dan banyak studio game dev local yg sdh berpengalaman diindustri diundang joining meeting draft IGRS di awal2. Bareng AGI n Kominfo/komdigi juga. Uda banyak terms, masukan dan saran yang berikan oleh teman2. Ternyata ujung2nya begini jg... dissapointed

I thought so. IGRS thinks that: - All games must be "safe for kids" - Adults can't tell the difference between good & bad - It's the game's fault when the kids are "influenced." - Games must reflect the "adat & norma yg sesuai dgn Indonesia" All combined. Boomer mindset.

Mumpung IGRS lagi rame. Ini gw pernah beberapa kali protes perihal isi Perpres 19/2024 perihal usulan IGRS ditajamkan dan menjadi penerimaan negara bukan pajak. System rating yg awalnya utk awareness justru mau dijadikan senjata utk censorship dan mengendalikan aliran dana.
