A renewed global commitment to reform the health architecture comes at a critical moment for global health, as countries face mounting pressures from climate change, conflict and constrained financing, making equitable, country-driven and resilient health systems more urgent than ever. In the Joint Political Declaration on the Reform of the Global Health Architecture, leaders reaffirm the importance of safeguarding sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) as a core pillar of health systems, reflecting sustained advocacy including from the Global Leaders Network @GLN_Community . As #CPD59 convenes global leaders and partners, the focus turns to a defining challenge: ensuring that advances in technology and research drive equity and development justice, not widen existing gaps. For countries across the Global South, closing disparities in access to technology, financing and research capacity is critical to advancing the #SDGs. At the same time, investing in #SRHR remains essential to strengthening human capital and enabling inclusive, sustainable development. This panel, convened by PMNCH and partners, will explore how to integrate equity, rights and accountability into population, technology and research agendas, advancing country-led solutions aligned with the 2030 Agenda. 🗓️ 14 April 2026 | ⏰ 1:15–2:30 PM 📍 UN Headquarters | UN Ground Pass mandatory 👉 Learn more: pmnch.who.int/news-and-event… @GovernmentZA, @UNFPA, @NEPAD_Agency

Over 1 billion children live in areas significantly affected by climate crisis and their health is increasingly impacted by the compounding factors with lasting effects on their development and life-long prosperity. The #OneHealthSummit 2026, as part of France’s #G7 presidency, represented a timely gathering of partners across sectors to address priority issues and solutions for the future of One Health, including the road to health sovereignty, digital innovation and tools, sustainable financing, civil society engagement, and youth empowerment. PMNCH was delighted to see partners unite and governments commit to the future of One Health this #WorldHealthDay, demonstrating how political commitment, international collaboration and science-based decision-making were the basis for accelerated action to save the lives of the world’s most vulnerable women, children and adolescents. Today is #WorldHealthDay. Under the theme “Together for health. #StandWithScience”, we are reminded that scientific progress only matters if it reaches those who need it most. Yet millions of women, children and adolescents still lack access to essential health services. Through its new roadmap initiative, PMNCH is convening partners to scale low-cost innovations for #WCAH, helping translate evidence into equitable, real-world impact. As discussions at CPD59 unfold, a critical question comes to the forefront: how can technology and research advance equity and development justice, rather than deepen existing inequalities? From a Global South perspective, closing gaps in access to technology, financing and research capacity is essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. At the same time, strengthening sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) remains foundational to human capital development, enabling women, adolescents and young people to participate fully in society and drive inclusive growth. Through this panel, PMNCH and partners will highlight policy pathways to embed equity, rights and accountability into population, technology and research agendas, ensuring that progress is inclusive, country-led and aligned with the 2030 Agenda. 🗓️ 14 April 2026 | ⏰ 1:15–2:30 PM UN Ground Pass mandatory Learn more: pmnch.who.int/news-and-event… #CPD59 #SRHR #WCAH #GlobalSouth #SDGs

At #IMNHC2026, more than 1,800 experts from 87 countries came together with a clear message: closing persistent gaps will require scaling proven, life-saving interventions rapidly and at scale. Stakeholders called for a decisive shift from commitments to implementation, grounded in data, country ownership and practical solutions. Discussions also highlighted the growing intersection between climate and health, including how extreme heat is already affecting maternal and newborn outcomes, and the need for innovative financing to build climate-resilient health systems. 🔗 Read more: pmnch.who.int/news-and-event… #MNCH #SRHR #GlobalHealth

With development assistance declining by an estimated 40%, and growing pressure on sexual and reproductive health and rights, countries are facing real disruptions to essential services, health workforces and supply systems. In Nairobi, PMNCH convened @GLN_Community and CAAP partners to align political leadership with country-level action, strengthening the connection between advocacy, financing and implementation across 12 countries. The message is clear: advancing women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health now requires coordinated, country-led action that translates commitments into real impact. 🔗 Read more: pmnch.who.int/news-and-event… #SRHR #GlobalHealth #MNCH

Two decades of accountability for women’s and children’s health. Now what? Since 2005, @Countdown2030 has played a critical role in exposing inequalities and driving progress in maternal and child survival. But with progress slowing and new challenges emerging, independent accountability is more important than ever. Global health leaders will convene to reflect on lessons learned and define what’s needed to accelerate progress toward the #SDGs and beyond. This milestone moment brings together policymakers, researchers and partners to shape the next phase of action for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health. 📅 9 April 2026 | ⏰ 13:00–14:30 GMT 🔗 Learn more: pmnch.who.int/news-and-event… #WCAH #GlobalHealth #SDGs

📣 From reflection to renewed urgency. PMNCH Executive Director, @khosla_rajat , reflects on March’s key moments, from #IWD and #CSW to the GLN DRM webinar, underscoring the growing challenges facing women, children and adolescents, particularly in fragile and conflict-affected settings. The month also marked a key milestone, as CAAP and GLN partners convened in Kenya for the first time, reinforcing collaboration across governments and civil society. At IMNCH, new evidence further highlighted that progress for #WCAH is stalling in too many places, calling for accelerated action. With financing and accountability now more critical than ever, partners are aligning ahead of key global moments to turn commitments into tangible results. Read more: pmnch.who.int/news-and-event…

Stillbirth is Africa’s silent epidemic. Stillbirth remains one of the most neglected global health challenges and one of the clearest indicators of health system performance. Every 30 seconds, a baby is stillborn in Africa. In 2023 alone, nearly one million third-trimester stillbirths occurred across the continent, most of them preventable. The State of Africa’s Stillbirths Report is the first Africa-wide stocktake of this crisis and calls for urgent action to strengthen health systems and accountability. 📖 Explore the report: africacdc.org/download/state… #AfricaStillbirths #EndStillbirths #HealthyFutures @AfricaCDC @WHO @UNICEF @LSHTM @UCT_news

⚠️ With conflict, climate shocks and displacement intensifying, women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health is on the frontlines. Over 50% of maternal and child deaths occur in fragile and conflict-affected settings. Disrupted services, shrinking civic space and volatile funding are putting WCAH and SRHR at serious risk. Humanitarian action must move beyond short-term relief toward rights-based, resilient and locally led health systems. Join this high-level dialogue to explore how WCAH and SRHR can be prioritized, financed and integrated into humanitarian and climate responses. 📅 Friday, 10 April 2026 ⏰ 14:00–15:00 CET 🌍 Online 👉 Register here: qrfy.io/r/2ACsypahFH

On the sidelines of IMNHC 2026, we had a conversation with @maryvkinney (University of Cape Town) and @VivianGaiko (@EmpowerMama), highlighting that stillbirth remains one of the most neglected tragedies in global health, with nearly 2 million stillbirths each year, almost half occurring in Africa. Some of the main talking points were that stillbirth is a critical marker of health system quality, yet it is often excluded from national targets and strategies, and that fewer than half of African countries include stillbirth reduction targets in their plans, limiting accountability. This dialogue highlighted key takeaways, including the need to integrate stillbirth prevention across health policies, programs and accountability mechanisms, and to strengthen data systems to ensure stillbirths are consistently reported and used to inform decision-making. 👉 Watch this episode today youtube.com/watch?v=6BoOc6…
