As of yesterday, Ontario is out of compliance with the Canada Health Act because Doug Ford's government missed the federal deadline to fund nurse practitioners. Now Ontarians are being forced to pay out of pocket for primary care. 2.5 million people don't have a family doctor, and this Minister has no plan to fix it.

Primary care in Canada is supposed to be free — when you have a cough, sore throat, aches, or pains, you don’t get charged. But in Ontario, over 2 million people don’t have a family doctor. They could be seeing a nurse practitioner, but Doug Ford and Sylvia Jones refuse to publicly fund that care so it’s free for patients, even after the federal government legally required them to. Ontario Liberals believe you should pay with your OHIP card, not your credit card. #onpoli

Ending hallway health care and longer wait times is simple: hire the staff to do it. To keep up with the rest of the country, we would need to hire 48,000 more hospital staff. Instead, this government is laying off healthcare workers with 1,000 jobs are being eliminated in hospitals in North Bay, Hamilton, London, Ottawa, Niagara and the GTA. Is this a record they’re proud of?
