In 2005 I built Fon on a simple idea: millions of WiFi routers sit idle most of the day. Share that spare capacity and you build a global network without laying a single cable. Millions of homes joined. Telcos partnered. No infrastructure needed. Now Jack Dorsey’s Block just launched mesh-llm. Same idea, applied to AI. Pool your idle GPU and suddenly a group of people with modest machines can run large open models that none of them could run alone. Models split automatically across nodes. No cloud provider, no API fees, no one controls your data. The timing matters. Google DeepMind released Gemma 4 today under Apache 2.0. A 31B model that competes with much larger closed models. A 26B MoE variant that only activates 3.8B parameters at inference. Edge models that run on a phone. All free to download, free to use commercially, no restrictions. Combine mesh-llm with Gemma 4 and you get the Fon of AI. Distributed compute running frontier open models. No central server. No per-query cost. Total privacy. The intelligence stays with the people who pool the hardware. Twenty years ago the scarce resource was connectivity. Today it is compute. The solution is the same: share what you have, access what you need.

Every time you load a page, your data travels through physical infrastructure - cables under oceans, satellites overhead, fiber under cities. Most people never think about. That's why I decided to map it. This is Project Backbone. It's free, interactive, and live.

new model for engineering team structure in 2026: 2 people only one pirate and one architect the pirate's job is to move as fast as possible to develop valuable, shipped product features by vibe coding. the architect's job is to turn the product surface discovered by the pirate into a reliable, structured machine—also by vibe coding, but at a slower, more well-reasoned pace. every product needs a pirate but most product's only need an architect once they some form of PMF, and in that case they usually don't need one full-time. architects can work across many codebases and solve interesting technical challenges. pirates go hard on a product that they own end-to-end.

we've been building our thesis on AI Transformation based on active engagements (ymmv, caveat emptor, small dataset), and the first step is interesting and obvious in hindsight it isn't strategy it isn't roadmaps it isn't process mining it isn't stakeholder interviews it starts with taking leadership AI-Native *personally* in their daily workflows accelerate the core decision makers first, otherwise it is the bottleneck to everything else

this is actually insane > be tech guy in australia > adopt cancer riddled rescue dog, months to live > not_going_to_give_you_up.mp4 > pay $3,000 to sequence her tumor DNA > feed it to ChatGPT and AlphaFold > zero background in biology > identify mutated proteins, match them to drug targets > design a custom mRNA cancer vaccine from scratch > genomics professor is “gobsmacked” that some puppy lover did this on his own > need ethics approval to administer it > red tape takes longer than designing the vaccine > 3 months, finally approved > drive 10 hours to get rosie her first injection > tumor halves > coat gets glossy again > dog is alive and happy > professor: “if we can do this for a dog, why aren’t we rolling this out to humans?” one man with a chatbot, and $3,000 just outperformed the entire pharmaceutical discovery pipeline. we are going to cure so many diseases. I dont think people realize how good things are going to get

I’m starting a new co in the AI coding space. Hiring the founding team members. I’ve been using the product non stop for the last month and it’s mind blowing. I think models are having different strengths right now and an ideal coding harness should run in the cloud and tap them. It should also be super simple for a lay user to configure a harness to fix common model errors you experience day to day, by throwing more model token combos at the problem. I have burnt $50k last month on this and the emergent intelligence has been epic. Lot of these we have good ideas on how to keep the intelligence and lower costs. Will release more product details soon. Join us if you’d like to work on this. Epic time for the intelligence take off and coding is driving the singularity now. What a time to be an engineer.

This is very telling - You know you have an AI native team, when people come to you for more LLM token credits instead of headcount requests.
Dale Vaz@dale_vaz

Building AI-native non-tech teams is not really difficult. Here are the steps we did at @Sahi_HQ to supercharge our team. 1. Did a couple of hands-on sessions with my Product and Growth teams on how to use Claude Code in Terminal mode. 2. Gave everyone in the org a Claude Teams account. 3. Integrated Claude with our org specific knowledge through a private MCP server. Set them up with a few skills and tool integrations. Within one week, our non-tech teams are consuming Claude tokens like college students at a wedding buffet 😀. Just amazing to see the innovative ways in which people are using this tech to collate and analyze data from different internal and external sources, do real-time audits of their business and product metrics without waiting on someone to write a SQL script or build a dashboard, create prototypes to visualize ideas, and even execute automated workflows to complete tasks. The speed and quality of data driven conversations just got a BIG boost, and it's exciting to see how much leverage Claude Code can give non-tech teams too. You know you have an AI native team, when people come to you for more LLM token credits instead of headcount requests. 😍
