While thousands protest, the 'prince' of @jokowi 's dynasty, @kaesangp, and his wife casually travel to the USA on a PRIVATE JET, oblivious to the outrage of millions✈️ 🌍 Should we count their selfish emissions and the money spent on this lavish trip?🤔 💸
Zakki Amali@ZakkiAmali

(Utas)

🚨🇮🇩THOUSANDS PROTEST INDONESIA'S ELECTION POWER GRAB Protesters gathered outside parliament as the government moves to overturn a court ruling that would allow smaller parties to compete in elections. Indonesia's top court ruled that parties would not need a minimum 20% of representation in their regional assemblies in order to field a candidate. Yet within 24 hours, parliament tabled an emergency motion to reverse these changes - a move which has sparked widespread condemnation and fears of a constitutional crisis. The government is expected to pass the controversial reversal today. Sources: BBC, Bloomberg

🇮🇩 INDONESIA BACKS DOWN ON NEW ELECTION LAW CHANGE AS PROTESTS ERUPT Indonesia’s parliament has postponed ratifying changes to the election law after widespread protests erupted across the nation. Protesters accused President Jokowi of trying to undermine democracy by paving the way for his son to gain political power. The changes, if passed, would have impacted the 2024 elections, with critics claiming they were designed to favor Jokowi’s allies. Sources: Reuters, BusinessLive

🚨🇮🇩PROTESTERS STORM PARLIAMENT OVER LAW THAT COULD CREATE A POLITICAL "DYNASTY" Thousands of furious protesters stormed Indonesia’s parliament, tearing down fences and clashing with police over a controversial law change that could allow President Jokowi’s 29-year-old son, Kaesang, to run for office. The proposed law would lower the minimum age for governors from 35 to 30 and ease nomination requirements, sparking fears of "dynastic politics." This move could enable Kaesang to bypass age restrictions and enter a regional race in Central Java. Protesters hurled stones as security forces responded with tear gas and water cannons. Fires erupted as anger spread nationwide, forcing lawmakers to delay the vote due to a lack of quorum. Source: AP
