The amount of people who feel compelled to trash Cubs fans over a PCA quote about Dodgers fans is hilarious. The funniest part is that most of the people getting salty about it are Brewers and White Sox fans.

@br0keR4sputin @5thDownCFB @CalebFC18 You’re acting like the taxes are so large that the city and state are imposing are enough to swing them from being at an net income to a net loss. The revenue they’ll make yearly will still be enough to cover these taxes. They’re still going to be profitable.

The McCaskeys net worth is tied directly to the Bears w their 80% ownership. They will be severely cash poor putting in $2B of their own money for a stadium they will now own. They can't afford to hope the state offers them stability in what is the biggest venture the family has ever taken on. Indiana guarantees they won't be saddled by an inept govt trying to squeeze everything they can from them.

After the Bears said they will invest $2 BILLION to privately fund the stadium in Arlington Heights, Illinois government proposed the highest property tax in all of professional sports. Oh, AND they want the Bears to pay for modernization of roads and utilities in the surrounding areas. Stop defending the state.
Rob Schwarz Jr.@ChiRuxinBGO

For full transparency reasons... While responding to someone, I went to prove the tax rate in Arlington Heights was indeed the 9% that I listed originally. It was not that rate for 2024 (2025 rates are not available yet). The rate is actually over 10%. This made me double check my math and the information I pulled, and I was actually missing multiple parcels for the United Center. POINT STILL STANDS... but I think we should be honest and transparent. Again, I want to leave emotions out of this. I also looked into Wrigley Field per a conversation - that one is a little more difficult. Corrected Numbers... New Bears Stadium (Arlington): Est. Market Value: $2,400,000,000 Est. Taxable Value: $600,000,000 2024 Equalizer: 3.0355 2024 Tax Rate: 10.381% Level of Assessment (5-97): 25% Cost to build: $2-3 Billion Estimated Prop Taxes: ~$189,069,153 United Center: Market Value: $121,815,880 Taxable Value: $30,453,970 2024 Equalizer: 3.0355 2024 Tax Rate: 6.643% Level of Assessment (5-97): 25% Cost to build: $175,000,000 (1994) Market Value vs Original Cost: ~70% Estimated Prop Taxes: ~$6,140,990 Difference vs Bears Est. Taxes: ~$180 Million Wrigley Field: Market Value: $165,785,710 Taxable Value: $16,578,571 2024 Equalizer: 3.0355 2024 Tax Rate: 6.868% Level of Assessment (7-97): 10% Cost to renovate: $750,000,000** (2019) Estimated Prop Taxes*: ~3,456,270 Difference vs Bears Est. Taxes: ~$185 Million ** Includes neighboring development *Stadium Only SoFi Stadium: Property Taxes: $8,900,000*** Difference vs Bears Est. Taxes: ~$180 Million\ ***Highest property tax bill for a current stadium in the United States. Wrigley Field has a special incentive property classification (Class 7 Incentive) which makes the taxable value 10% of the Market Value rather than 25% like most other commercial properties. Wrigley Field was difficult to identify everything. Some recent reports have their taxes at only $2.7mm. #DaBears

@5thDownCFB @CalebFC18 So I’m not sure if you’re aware, but a major sports organization compares way differently than any of those listed businesses. The main one being, they are always in the black. So yeah the state is trying to squeeze them, but it’s also a billionaire family/org. that can cover it

The Bears are going the way of Citadel, Tyson Foods, Caterpiller, John Deere, Boeing & other major corporations I’m not naming & others still to come I’m also not listing thousands of restaurants & small businesses that have closed down All of you defending this state & city have lost the plot. Businesses used to HQ here b/c it was a working city—it had issues but it was a good spot to do business It’s now a hyper-regulate, tax & spend city that’s rotting from corruption & sinking due to the weight of its unfounded pensions & the girth of its government, bureaucracy & governor The Bears are making the smart business play

@clayharbs82 Difference is, this is not a standard business model that you studied in school. This is a business that is already in the black every year before a single game is even played. So I’d say you cater to the fans more than your care for dollars.

My time at Kelley School of Business molded how I see this stadium debate. Fans are arguing loyalty - ownership is looking at ROl, operating costs, tax exposure, revenue streams and Indiana is giving a cleaner business model: lower corporate taxes, public-private funding, and infrastructure support. You don't have to like it... but Illinois isn't making it easy to compete on the business side. Markets don’t run on emotion, they run on incentives.. #Bears #ChicagoBears

@Hardened_Truth @Jake_B30 Not giving the state the state a complete pass, but I’m also not about to defend a billionaire family/owner who could just pony up and pay the taxes which doesn’t even affect their bottom line.

Pretty simple #Bears fans The Organization will blame the State The State will blame the Organization Do me a favor and look at how many businesses have left Illinois over the last few years That should give you a clear answer (it’s the State)

@SportsPM12 @NFL_Convo I don’t have respect for clowns like you whose entire personality revolves around engagement farming on social media through dog shit takes. Again every MVP for the last TEN years has been on a top 2 seed until this year. So explain why the criteria changed this year?

A trip to the Super Bowl should not be determined by weather conditions. It just shouldn't. These games should be played at neutral sites in warm weather cities under good conditions

Keep the 90’s Yankees out of your mouth when you’re talking about the Dodgers. There is absolutely zero comparison to make. The Yankees traded 16 Top 100 prospects away during that time and were built around a core of five homegrown megastars. Literally every one of them should be in the hall. Yankees homegrown talent: Derek Jeter Jorge Posada Mariano Rivera Andy Pettitte Bernie Williams Trade acquisitions: Jim Abbott, David Cone, Tino Martinez, Jeff Nelson, Cecil Fielder, David Weathers, Jim Leyritz, Graeme Lloyd, Hideki Irabu, Chuck Knoblauch, Ed Yarnell, Mark Johnson, David Justice, Denny Neagle. Free agent signings: Kenny Rogers, Mariano Duncan, Dwight Gooden (had been out for a year and a half with a drug suspension was a big gamble), Darryl Strawberry (also following a suspension, also a gamble), Wade Boggs, David Wells, Orlando Hernandez Dodgers homegrown talent: Will Smith Andy Pages Dodgers free agent signings: Literally everyone else

@CincyBuckeye @AtchusYou @CathVSConf Not really sure I would. Didn’t just quit and roll over against our two ranked losses, destroyed our 2 ranked wins, and blew out every other team on the schedule. Bowl games are pointless post CFP expansion. Why risk getting hurt when you’re about to make millions in the league?

This was Notre Dame’s reaction to being left out of the CFP. Marcus Freeman — the guy who always has the perfect answer — tossed the remote and just shook his head. “Normally I can get up here and tell you there’s cause and effect for a disappointment… I don’t have that answer for this one, because it doesn’t make sense.” The whole team sat there, holding it in, letting it burn. And MF told them exactly what to do with it: “Keep it. Keep the pain.”

@CincyBuckeye @AtchusYou @CathVSConf Hmm must’ve been watching a different season then cause it felt like you guys quit against Miami and Indiana cause you actually played someone and not a cupcake B1G team that you could let up against after the first half.

@CincyBuckeye @AtchusYou @CathVSConf Yeah, real smart for players who are going to the league already to play a meaningless game. Would’ve loved to have seen some heart and pride from the Buckeyes against Miami, didn’t see much though. Felt like they quit pretty quickly.

The @CFBPlayoff is destroying the integrity of the sport. Miami and Notre Dame were directly compared this week… Miami beat Notre Dame head-to-head this year. In every major sport, when two teams finish with the same record, head-to-head is the FIRST tiebreaker. NFL? Yes. NBA? Yes. MLB? Yes. NHL? Yes. Every NCAA conference? Yes. But the CFP? “Notre Dame is a more complete team.” So the result on the field… just doesn’t matter? Tell me again how this system is supposed to be fair.
