Check out package {qqboxplot} which implements the q-q boxplot, a modification of the boxplot replacing traditional whiskers with tail info from the q-q plot (paper: bit.ly/3w8CUeC). Available on CRAN and Github: github.com/jrodu/qqboxplot#RStats#dataviz#ggplot2
My sweet baby Gabe has to spend the night in the hospital and I am so sad. We never leave our pets at the kennel. I’m afraid he’ll think he’s been abandoned. 😭
We’re getting ready to build a raised garden outside. The kids love seeing the seedlings grow every day and we turn them every few hours to see how they stretch toward sunlight. Here’s a time lapse of about 2.5 hours as they reach for the sun. Pretty cool.
@kareem_carr@BaiocchiMike The paper discusses the different kinds of reasoning we use when we develop and deploy algorithms, and roots this discussion in historical context.
I think statistics and machine learning are very different fields.
Statistics is the art of deriving logically valid inferences from data.
Machine learning is the art of deriving inferences from data, but these inferences don't need to be logically valid.
My children constantly set challenges for themselves (can I climb that? what would it be like if i could fly?)
ML community says: if you haven't made a benchmark for me, prepackaging a training set and test items, your challenge doesn't exist.
