This week, I officially started my new position as a researcher at the Institute of Ethnology at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (@CzechAcademy), joining the OP JAK Land Gone Wild project team as well as the Department of #MemoryStudies within the institute.

Just returned from an incredible journey at the Slow Memory (@slowmemo) ECR Training School in Belgrade, funded by the COST Action. It was truly inspiring to be surrounded by a diverse group of scholars, from seasoned experts to emerging talents in #MemoryStudies.

I looked at eight #welfare areas and found three common themes: welfare as citizen control through privilege and state espionage, welfare as indoctrination, and welfare as a solution to the shortage.

Focusing on post-communist memories of state welfare and care during the #ColdWar, I spoke about the displays of socialist welfare in museums of ‘everyday life’ during the communist era in Budapest, Prague and Warsaw.
