Rep. Benny Abante is cutting through the noise by focusing on the sheer institutional weight of the Vice President position. He says that when Sara Duterte named President Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and former Speaker Martin Romualdez as targets for an assassin, the "conditional" defense evaporates. Seriously, you don’t need to be a lawyer to recognize “seditious intent”. The DDS cult’s "precondition" argument is a pathetic attempt to rebrand a hit-squad contract as a "life insurance measure." By establishing a mechanism for state-level murder, Sara Duterte has transitioned from a public servant to a liability. Abante’s stance exposes the DDS cult’s hypocrisy: they demand "law and order" for everyone else but offer a free pass to Sara Duterte who behaves like a cartel boss. Abante is essentially calling their bluff: you can’t claim to protect the Republic while defending a "Plan B" that involves the orchestrated assassination of its top leaders.

Meanwhile, Manases Carpio operates in the lower courts, where delays can be stretched, technicalities can pile up, and procedure turns into a maze. You walk in straight, you come out circling. Different stages. Same play. Call it what it looks like. Forum shopping. Not a search for truth, but a search for terrain. Move the fight from one courtroom to another, from one level to the next, until you find the space that buys you time, or better yet, silence. And at the center of it all, not gossip. Not speculation. Paper. Records from the Anti-Money Laundering Council, where money leaves traces no matter how carefully it moves. Like mud on a shoe, you can wipe it, but something always remains. And from the Bureau of Internal Revenue, where income is measured, not explained away. That is where you see if the lifestyle matches the declared earnings, or if the story does not quite add up. So here is the question that refuses to go away. If the books are clean, why keep the pages closed? If the flow is legitimate, why block the light? Because this is not just legal defense. It is an old playbook. When the position gets shaky, you do not win the argument. You drag the clock. You stretch the fight until the crowd loses interest. Wear down the process. Blur the issue. Split the attention. Add forum shopping to the mix, and the strategy becomes clearer. Keep moving the goalposts. Keep changing the arena. Make the chase longer than the memory of the public. Until the real question gets buried under noise. But no matter how many filings are stacked, no matter how many courts are engaged, one question keeps pushing through like a splinter you cannot ignore. Where did the billions come from? And more telling than anything else. If there is nothing to fear, why does it look like there is so much to hide?

ON THE FILING OF A COMPLAINT BY ATTY. MANS CARPIO, HUSBAND OF VICE PRESIDENT SARA DUTERTE: Kahit sino ay pwedeng mag-file ng kaso. We respect that right and we will answer the allegations in the proper forum. At the same time, I have to emphasize that the House Committee on Justice is merely fulfilling its duty. Ang aming kapangyarihan ay mismong galing sa ating Konstitusyon na mag-conduct ng hearing, at mismong sa Rules ng House ay meron tayong power to issue and to compel the production of documents and witnesses. Atty. Carpio is married to the Vice President and under our laws, their properties are communal in nature. So, there should be every reason to look into the properties of both spouses. At the same time, kailangan din nating makita, based on what was alleged in the complaint, kung ano talaga ang basis for those claims of unexplained wealth. Klaro naman na iyong inilabas ng AMLC ay mga covered and suspicious transactions. Wala namang inilabas na any specific accounts. These are required because of the charges filed before us which are contained in the impeachment complaints. Papaano natin malalaman kung may basehan 'yon kung hindi naman ma-i-po-produce ang mga records na 'yon. The Committee has given them every opportunity to appear and participate. And if they want to really say anything about the evidence, then that's the proper forum for them to participate in.
