Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale apparently still believes the Minab elementary school was hit by a "failed Iranian missile," a belief that is not supported by *any accounts*

NEW FROM ME: I’m working with some of the best reporters and editors in L.A. to build a brand new local news outlet that launches tomorrow. Sign up here: lamaterial.com.
Matt Hamilton@_hamilton_matt

Personal news: I left @latimes in December after 11 years + joined L.A. Material — a new, soon-to-launch local news outlet. We have a small but mighty team and our site is up! No stories yet but I’m excited to show soon what we’ve been working on. lamaterial.com

This article is interesting for several reasons. The article suggests that the CIA reviewed multiple videos showing a missile impacting the school at Minab. Currently there is only one public video of a missile impacting, and it hits a different building near the school.

evolving media strategy from the white house/broader admin: don't respond to the substance of the reporters' question, provide an epic own and then blast it out/supporters tweet it at the reporter when the reporter doesn't include it in their story (because it's not responsive)
Anna Kelly@AnnaKelly47

Fake news “reporter” @ScottNover said we declined to comment for this story. Not true! He just didn’t like my comment because it exposes how little the Washington Post cares about access for photographers. They just fired all of their White House photographers! Fake outrage.

I uncovered revelatory emails about the US occupation of Iraq. They form the basis of an article I have co-written, which featured on the front cover of The Sunday Times Magazine. thetimes.com/world/middle-e…

If I had to pick a single fact that best highlights how absurd and wrong-on-its-face the supply chain risk designation is, it would probably be that Emil Michael insists a deal with Anthropic is still possible. I am happy that he maintains this posture, and I hope Anthropic takes him up on the offer. But as a legal matter, it muddles the government’s case deeply. The law that authorizes the government to designate supply chain risks is intended for “adversaries,” i.e. companies from hostile foreign countries. There is no “deal” the DoW can strike with e.g. Huawei or DeepSeek or CATL that would assuage the national security concerns of using those firms’ tech in US military systems. It is possible (though perhaps far fetched) to suppose that an American president could strike such a deal, but this deal would be a treaty or a trade agreement, not a procurement contract with a random Chinese firm. SCR is not a tool intended to be used for contract negotiation leverage. The DoW would be wise to maintain the legal fiction that this isn’t about leverage and is instead about, you know, national security. Emil Michael’s consistent admissions that this is all about leverage, and thus that a deal is still possible, should reveal everything you need to know. This dispute is not about US national security, and those who maintain otherwise are misinformed or lying.
