@Jhc010 @n0tjkm_ @TheMercianNews @PolitlcsUK is it not better if we try going green as soon as possible so we donโt have to rely on oil?
English

We wonโt for a long time by then fusion/nuclear will probs be our main supply of energy. It isnโt about not going green itโs about being realistic.
Just aiming for net 0 by 2050 or whenever, is just compete unrealistic.
Frack, drill, mine everything we can, then when that time comes and fossil fuels slow down, we would have invested heavily in nuclear and fusion plants.
Itโs simple economics and political understanding.

From this report it says around 9 billion barrels are confirmed to be found (2.9bn reserves + 6.2bn discovered but undeveloped)
It also suggests there could still be 16 billion barrels on top of that, yet to be found.
The UK currently imports 700k a day, roughly, if the 9bn was to be fully developed thatโs 24 years worth of oil.

@samipro341 @n0tjkm_ @TheMercianNews @PolitlcsUK No but thereโs numerous reported suggesting we could get 1m barrels a day๐
If not more but ok mate.
English

@n0tjkm_ @TheMercianNews @PolitlcsUK Whoโs said that?
You can quite easily get 60-70% of the Ukโs demand from the North Sea.

Just like food, clothes and shoes would be cheaper if we voted for Farage's #Brexit
Oh, wait...

@zatzi Your brother lied to the Queen and prorogued parliament specifically to avoid a democratic vote on Brexit.
Sit down โ you entitled little brat.

Do people have the memory of a goldfish? Labour are disappointing but they're not worse than the Tories.

Brexit meant Britain had to choose:
- either be outside single market too, at great economic cost
- or, like Norway, align with single market, attenuate the costs, but become a rule taker.
Only EU members get economic benefit AND get to agree the rules theguardian.com/politics/2026/โฆ

The Brexiters are raging because Keir Starmer plans for the UK toย align more closely with some EU rules.
Yes, it will make the UK a rule-taker, but that is the fault of Brexit and Brexit politicians. They were repeatedly warned this would happen.
Brexit cannot end Britain's trade dependence on the EU. When it comes to trade, we can no more leave the EU than we can sail Britain into the mid-Atlantic. What Brexit has done is to have stripped us of our decision making power in the EU. We have become powerless, impotent, in Europe.
Brexit is forcing the UK to become a EU vassal state. The UK needs to rejoin the EU as soon as possible, not just because of trade, but also because of geopolitics.
