READ: Senator Alan Peter Cayetano tells Levito Baligod, the lawyer for the 18 witnesses who testified about bringing cash inside suitcases (maletas) to the homes of certain politikos, that the Blue Ribbon Committee hearing scheduled on Monday, June 8, is unauthorized.
Cayetano warns Baligod that he cannot assure the 18 witnesses of the 'procedural safeguards and protection' should they attend the hearing of the panel led by Sen. Erwin Tulfo.
Sen. Pia Cayetano held her own hearing last ween where the 18 men testified but it wasn’t considered an official hearing of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

SENATOR ALAN CAYETANO: CUT AND CUT CLEANLY
I agree with the position of Senator Frank Drilon that there is a presumption of regularity in the declaration of all Senate positions vacant, including that of former Senate President Alan Cayetano.
Alan knows this.
That is why he has not gone to the Supreme Court to challenge his removal.
Because at the heart of this latest Senate coup lies a reality that extends beyond questions of quorum, procedure, or parliamentary technicalities. The real issue is who has the numbers to control the Senate.
And even assuming for the sake of argument that the Supreme Court were to rule in Alan’s favor, what then?
On the first day of session, there would simply be another motion declaring all positions vacant. This time, there would be 13 votes.
The reality is that parliamentary power ultimately rests not on titles but on numbers.
Indeed, the issue may be resolved even sooner if the President calls a special session of Congress. If Alan has only ten votes and if reports are accurate that he may lose yet another supporter, on what basis can he continue to claim the Senate Presidency?
The larger lesson for Senator Alan Cayetano and for the country is this:
In a democracy, institutions are bigger than the ambitions of any one leader.
No office belongs to any individual. Every position is held only so long as one retains the confidence of those empowered to confer it.
Legitimacy does not come from clinging to office. It comes from retaining the confidence of those empowered to choose their leaders.
This is why democratic institutions endure. Leaders come and go but institutions must continue to function regardless of the fortunes of any one person.
When the numbers are gone, the title eventually follows.
The wise course now is not to prolong the contest but to accept the verdict of the numbers.
Therefore, I beseech you, Senator Alan Cayetano. Let the institution move forward. Cut and cut cleanly.

What’s the alternative? For almost 12 years, nasa duterte-marcos pa rin ang masa. Kita naman yan sa result nung 2022. Kita rin yan sa recent surveys. Leni only got 15M+ votes, despite the radical ang magmahal narrative, DESPITE us hyping her credentials. Lalong hindi nag-work ang mga essays on FB highlighting ang mga nagawa etc… to tell you honestly, para lang yan sa middle class and upper class. Sila ang target dyan. what about yung iba? “Ang pogi kasi ni Robin” “Galing sumayaw ni Bong Revilla” “Ah basta iboboto ko siya” “Ang bango bango kasi” Sila ang kailangan natin ma-penetrate, mga taong ganyan ang sagot kapag tinanong mo kung bakit nila binoto. Please lang, maging open tayo sa mga possibilities. Hindi pa ba tayo natuto nung 2022?

Every time a DDS defender speaks up for Sara Duterte, her image seems to take another hit.
Public support has weakened, trust issues keep growing, and questions about corruption, confidential funds, and political conduct refuse to go away.
What’s making things worse? Some of her loudest defenders come with their own baggage: legal troubles, questionable claims, conspiracy theories, and arguments that often backfire.
Instead of helping Sara recover politically, they’re reminding people why confidence in the Duterte brand continues to slide.
The real problem isn’t the impeachment trial. It’s that the distractions, drama, and noise can’t erase the issues people are actually asking about.
