Desi development shortcuts like this put the personal data of millions of Pakistanis at risk of identity theft, fraud, and harassment. There are virtually no enforced security standards or policies for apps and platforms handling sensitive citizen data in our market.
The government must step up urgently: introduce strict regulations, mandatory security audits, data protection standards, and heavy penalties for companies operating in Pakistan.
