You are going to enjoy this. A few days ago, Marc Nixon posted "polling results" from Maple Polling to help support his narrative. Maple Polling has already rebranded. They're now called Pierre4Canada. Marc Nixon was platforming fake polls from this ridiculous account. They absolutely don't care about truth nor accuracy.

Here’s what then-Prime Minister Stephen Harper said about floor crossing when Emerson went from the Liberals to the Conservatives and he faced criticism from the NDP: “Mr. Speaker, as I have said before, I believe members of Parliament should have that freedom and be accountable to their constituents for their decisions at the next election. However, in my observation, the only parties that really have this as an obsession are the parties that no one ever crosses to.” The Conservatives were also happy to welcome former Liberal MP Leona Alleslev, who crossed the floor in 2018. The CPC was so happy, in fact, that they appointed Alleslev as Deputy Leader. At the time, the Conservatives did not call for restrictions on floor crossing, nor did they call for Alleslev to face a recall.

Not long ago, a bill tried to ban floor crossings. Conservative MP Michelle Rempel Garner delivered a blunt, clear-eyed case for why that’s a terrible idea — and why she and her colleagues voted it down.

Once upon a time, in the cold Ottawa winter of 2012, an MP named Mathieu Ravignat stood up in the House of Commons with a new rule. He presented Bill C-306, a law proposing that any politician who switches parties must automatically face a by-election to keep their seat. The bill went to a vote. A Conservative MP named @PierrePoilievre looked at this idea and formally voted "Nay." On February 8, 2012, he helped defeat the legislation, ensuring that politicians could cross the floor without legally being forced back to the ballot box. 👉 ourcommons.ca/members/en/vot… Fast forward fourteen years to April 2026. A Conservative MP named Marilyn Gladu packs up her desk and crosses the floor to join the Liberals. The very next day, Pierre Poilievre takes to the microphones. He loudly demands that she face a by-election for switching teams, demanding the exact consequence he had previously voted to prevent. Sources House of Commons Official Record: 41st Parliament, 1st Session, Vote No. 123 (February 8, 2012). This verifies Pierre Poilievre's "Nay" vote. LEGISinfo (Parliament of Canada): Bill C-306, An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act (political affiliation). This provides the exact text and purpose of the proposed legislation. Public Record (April 2026): Press conferences and public statements on April 9, 2026, documenting Pierre Poilievre's demand for Marilyn Gladu to face a by-election.

Poilievre slams Marilyn Gladu for joining the Liberals, calling them "the most costly government in Canadian history," and says she should face a by-election. He also bashes PM Mark Carney for securing a majority through "dirty backroom deals."

@pvicvah @t7_linda "Who gives 2 shits if he’s likable." Apparently a lot of folks do. Trudeau didn't get voted in because he was wonderful, he got voted in because Harper was painfully unlikable and ran a garbage campaign.

@t7_linda Who gives 2 shits if he’s likable. What matters is results which libs never deliver on. I’ve been hearing the same Canada strong bs for years from libs and they’ve done the opposite. Build nothing. Spend lots. More govt control. Restrict speech. Radical ideologies. And so on.

Normal conservatives: Carney is likeable and isn’t seen by voters the same way the Poilievre echo-chamber thinks Poilievre echo chamber:

Am I the only one who doesn't give a fuck about political parties? I thought we elected these meatbags to represent us not hype their own teams. Every single member of Parliament that posted their weird fealty oaths took time to do it instead of working for their constituents.

@t7_linda Right??? It's tiring how many folks nowadays think that if you don't 100% agree with them, you must be 100% against them in every way. And that goes for people across the political spectrum.

A "dirty, backroom deal" helped him win leadership of the Conservative Party of #Canada. Then, another "dirty, backroom deal" with Kurek out in Battle River-Crowfroot got him back into the #HoC. So, when it comes to "dirty, backroom deals," 🍎@PierrePoilievre🍎 is the #GOAT!

WATCH: @PierrePoilievre asked why he paid for the whistleblower's legal fees who took down his main rival, Patrick Brown. "Why was your campaign in particular, the one that ought to have paid this bill?" He gives a short non-answer, then runs away. #cdnpoli #PierrePoilievre

However you feel about Gladu crossing to the Liberals, the reaction says everything: Conservatives will blame anyone but themselves for a decade of losses.

@DorisGibbon @jbeggs252 You're confusing me with someone who thinks that Trudeau was a great PM. Before the current troubles we had four years of covid. And before that, Trudeau's idealism (regardless of its value) was not good for quite a few industries. And the world has been messed up since 2008.

The CPC has never been an opposition party. Since their inception they have been campaigning party, full time, whether in government or not. They are appropriately fading to black. People are tired of the none stop rage farming and lying. Even CPC MPs seem to be tired of it.

@upstartcro27912 @CoryChandler2 @nut_meggy Sigh all you want - the numbers don't lie. He blew the election because Trudeau (who was terrible) left and Pollievre didn't (or couldn't) change his message or adapt enough to stop the slide.

@shipdit402 @StaceyMonette27 No, because leader mishaps don’t turn Conservatives into Liberals. Unless your argument is that we should assume the average MP is a completely value-free careerist? Merely actors faking policy preferences as a grift towards employment?

@shipdit402 @StaceyMonette27 Carney has not accomplished a thing. Interprovincial trade barriers, housing , immigration, inflation, national debt, crime, all worse. Now add censure ship bills and China. No, it’s not PP. He does his job.

@DorisGibbon @jbeggs252 I do not. But there's not a lot I can do about it, what with our largest trading partner and world power arbitrarily cancelling trade agreements, slapping tariffs on anything on a whim, and upending the world energy and financial markets.

@Mickey88216244 @CoryChandler2 @nut_meggy The CPC was way ahead in the polls (338canada). Trudeau was awful, the knives were coming out, and he quit. Pollievre didn't adapt or change his message or tactics and lost. And... orange man *is* bad. Look at what he's saying about the big names who helped him get into power.
