I took photos yesterday that made me forget everything for a few hours. Today I’m back at the hospital waiting for my code to be called. The hardest part of living with a chronic illness isn’t the pain or the waiting rooms or the paperwork. It’s the grief of knowing that no matter how good a day gets, your body will always find a way to remind you who’s actually in charge. Yesterday it was a good day. Today I’m back here. I’ve stopped being surprised. I haven’t stopped being tired of it.

It's that time of year! Here are some fun facts about #MourningDove during #MatingSeason. 1) Males kick off mating season with loud cooing from favorite perches to woo females—basically their version of a pickup line! 2) During courtship, pairs get super affectionate: they preen each other's necks with gentle nibbles and even "kiss" by grasping beaks. 3) Males build the nest by standing on the female's back while handing her twigs 4) They often mate for life (or at least the whole season), sticking together through multiple broods. These lovebirds can raise up to 6 broods a year in warmer areas

13 years ago, I stole my neighbor's dog. As a puppy, she was left in their back yard with no shelter, no food and no water. She was neglected in a way no living thing should. In the dark of night, I would take her food and water. It didn't take long for the starving baby to solely sit beside the fence we shared. One night, I went out, unwove the chain link enough to pull her through, and took her away from those awful people. Eight ball, as they called her, was renamed April.

Today got puiled over, and panicked, and without thinking, I told my dog, 'Act normal.' He immediately sat up like a model citizen: back straight, eyes forward, looking like he had a clean record. 🤔 When the officer reached the window and saw the scene, he burst out laughing 🤣 and said, 'I've seen nervous drivers, but your copilot takes the cake.' Honestly, I think my dog saved me from getting a ticket.

I went to the shelter yesterday to look at dogs. Our sweet dog died 6 weeks ago. A woman came in with a two week old kitten who was bottle fed- she could not keep him due to work and she had no choice but to bring him in. They let her know kittens were put down immediately due to lack of staff unable to bottle feed. Meet Mango. He is two weeks old, his motor is insanely loud and he eats like a champ. I do not need another cat but the cat distribution system felt otherwise. 🧡
