@swanrunner_ Sure we are not talking to JP players or whoever else all the time but I personally would like to see it happen even if it's not realistic. Yeah stubborn is a bit much but I still see complacency.

I think we gotta go numpad and L/R notation because it at least has better carry over to other games. Still keep abbreviated positions obviously.

@ThePhantomnaut It's not just letters on the screen it's what people speak at meetup and tournaments, it's the terminology used by streamers, youtubers, and commentators. Changing notation means the whole community retraining their jargon,and there isn't a real incentive or need to do so

@ThePhantomnaut I don't think that "stubborn carryover" is accurate framing. It's not like all the oldheads dissappeared and the current community arbitrarily picked the notation system from all of the ones available. It's language that has been shared with people as they have entered the scene

Smash Ultimate's meta being shit is just the result of a competitive game being played for a very long time.
ANY fighting game will be lame and stale after a 5+ years when the meta develops fully + people know what needs to be done in order to win

Why are people mad about this? It's not about poverty of language, it's about the inexplicability of (still) using 12 as a unit of measurement. Why 12? It feels arbitrary and probably derives from historical conventions and considerations that are no longer relevant.

I don't understand the point of using the term "dozen". It means 12, so just say 12? It's even worse when people say or type "half a dozen". Just say 6 or six.
