ships DON'T start with "people will like this, so i will draw/write/create for it". because most of the time the audience isn't there yet.
it starts with "/i/ like this, so i will create for it". don't think about who else will like it. that stops growth before it even begins.

As someone who is currently in the middle of writing an ongoing longfic, genuinely the thing that makes me update faster is readers continued interest in every update. If you bookmark/comment you are the backbone of these works. Those are the people we're writing for.
