When it comes to the race for Lachie Neale’s signature next season, do not discount Essendon. My understanding is that the Bombers are very confident of recruiting the two-time Brownlow Medal-winning champion. Would make sense for all parties. Neale already has his flags (could get a 3rd this year) and if it’s purely a financial decision, the Dons would offer him a truckload. Essendon are crying out for quality, senior players to lead/nurture their talented crop of youngsters and Neale fits the bill perfectly.

Essendon really is a rabble in every sense of the word. They’ve all checked out. Zero care, pride, urgency or leadership. A product of a horrible culture at a broken club. Players are going through the motions, counting down the days until the season ends. It’s a big middle finger to their loyal fans who gave up their Sunday to attend/watch the game.
