My chief priority for 2026 is continuing to build the foundation for @AngelCityZen: - Hosting our second training ango in the spring - Organizing a sangha trip to Japan for Zuisse ceremonies for our head teacher at Eiheiji and Sozenji in May - Doing our first camping retreat in Malibu in June - Streamlining operations and automating some of our sangha/donor communications (but not totally!) - Building out our website to offer access to our expanding library of original, accessible translations of classic Zen texts - And, of course, continuing to foster a welcoming community practice based around Zen’s original promise that no one here has to do or become anything other than what they already are. On a personal level, I am honestly not sure what will unfold. Demand for coaching is there even when I'm not talking about it, and I have a feeling that if I just apply some effort I could get a bunch more clients. Which I'm excited about, I just have to be super careful not to overextend myself. And, of course, there's writing, my ride or die. A lot of my creative energy these days goes to dharma talks, which is an exciting form to explore. And while I feel like that's enough for me at this stage of my life, I miss it when I'm not regularly putting words down on the page (and sharing them with the world). So. I'm gonna keep showing up and see what happens. Interesting things seem to occur at the intersection of curiosity, service, and desire, and that feels like the ground from which to expand. If you made it this far, I'd love to read about what you're thinking about as we head into the new year. ♥️♥️♥️

I feel like recently people have been coming out of the woodwork about hating Notion. I think the simplicity of building with the robots has made it clear how insanely overcomplicated that software is and I for one will be glad to see its demise

@svincenzi You are missing the point. The point is that you have no idea what I want and are making a lot of assumptions about it. I said nothing about it -- that was all you making it up in your head.

Your agency has nothing to do with how other people, according to my experience, see you (not you-you, but women, in general, in their 40's). I am quite confident that plenty of men in their 40's would love to spend some time with "older" women, but you were not talking about "spending some time". This is how the world is.

A strange thing about being in my late 40s and still fairly hot is that I seem to be invisible to other 40 something men, but all other decades are very much in play.

@svincenzi You seem to be operating from an assumption that I have no desires or agency of my own. I would encourage you to reconsider that assumption.

Older people may be interested in some commitment, but younger decades are not taking older women seriously. Ofc, there are exceptions, but few and far between. Sure, if one wants to be considered an object of passing desire, whose interesting ways become the subject of some entertaining conversation with friends, it is fine. But also a step away from losing dignity.

I recently had a guy I dated nearly 20 years ago pop up out of nowhere (merc retrograde?) and we went to lunch. He fumbled me then and is married & babied up now, and I thought we were just catching up but toward the end it became clear he was fishing for an affair. I scoffed and asked if he had friends he could set me up with and he said no, but that any man who would come into my orbit now was extremely lucky. Like really emphasized the point multiple times. It was flattering but JFC, man.

Men our age see us competition, almost a reminder that we purposely did not choose them, therefore they will not choose us. We will end up marrying younger, they know they will not because for a 40 something man to marry younger he needs to be super wealthy, for us to marry younger we just need to be hot
