Trading success depends on your motivation. If you motivation is to get rich quick, you will fail. If you look to truly learn how to trade, learn about the markets and most importantly yourself, you are on the right path to success

How I run my business 2020 was my 10th year as an entrepreneur. Here are some "rules" I try to follow after a decade of stumbling around building my company. (Not rules for all businesses. Just how I choose to run mine.) A thread 👇👇👇

Keep a notebook and a pen handy. It’s your journal, your diary, your goal map. Write by hand in it every day at the same time everything you are thinking, dreaming, feeling, goals, plans, things good and bad. Typing is faster but writing by long hand is far more powerful. Try it.

Why do the overwhelming number of traders fail ??? I’d like to hear people’s opinions, though not at the first ‘symptomatic level’, eg they take profits too deeply, lack discipline, panic, etc! I’d like to hear people’s views at the deeper level. All opinions respected 🤝

What are the key factors which lead some traders to succeed?? This is the opposite to yesterday’s question (below) which produced some great answers. 🙏Responses should not be the opposite, i.e. not why they don’t fail, but why they succeed.

Pro tip: Your only limit is you. Instead of saying “I can’t”, start saying “how can I...” When you start changing your attitude, the things looks impossible will start to look possible. Motivate yourself but motivation alone is not enough. Prepare to put in hard work, too!

Markets are closed now, but some of my best "trading" happens on weekends. This doesn't just mean planning new trades. It also means looking at what went right/wrong this week, and revising my process or psychology to correct the weaknesses and build on the strengths next week

Big caveat: I still work *extremely* hard. Intellectually, I want more leisure. But at the same time, busting my ass for the past five years has improved my life tremendously. Brunello Cucinelli, who I wrote about below, strikes a wonderful balance of leisure and hard work.

2. He sets strict working times. His team starts the day at 8am and have a hard stop at 5:30pm, after which work is forbidden. He says: “Human beings are much more creative in the morning after a good rest and after devoting time to themselves and their families."

One of the Great Pradoxes of my Work. Is that the best traders (& managers & salespeople) I’ve coached is that they don’t fear losses, and therefore can take them far easier. They embrace losses, not as failures, but as steps on the path to success. It’s a powerful mindset.

When I make a mistake, I immediately smile. I tell my brain it's not a big deal. I'm having fun, learning. That's how you train yourself to react well.

Traders may want to stockpile books for the next few week. I’d suggest ‘Black Swan’ may be a good start. Here is a list of outstanding books on trader mindset : alphamindblog.blogspot.com/p/trading-inve… There are many more outstanding trading books, please add your suggestions by reply.
