Along with being an excellent journalist and writer, @travery98 is an empathetic person who thinks critically about the world around her. Losing her reporting is a loss for Nevada.
Democracy depends on journalism. I wish there were better avenues for supporting our journalists.

Some news of the personal kind — Last Monday was my last day with the RJ, and the end of my time in journalism (for now). The past two years have been incredibly challenging, but I’m proud of how much I’ve grown and the work I did.

It's bittersweet seeing Taylor leave the RJ and the industry. As a duo on the politics and government team, we collaborated on several impactful stories, and I loved working with her. She's one of the best writers in Nevada. I know she'll do great work in her next role.

I’m thankful for people who mentored me and supported me, with special thanks to @ColtonLochhead, @lolonghi & @tabitha_mueller. I’ll have more news soon about where I’m going next, but my commitment to doing good work for Nevada remains as strong as ever.

Additionally, I had a staffer follow me and record at least three of my interviews. I watched staffers do the same thing to other reporters. Appeared to make at least one of my interviewees nervous.

This also happened to me. A staffer tried not once but twice to cut off my interview with a voter who said they thought Biden should step down. They then ushered me and the voter inside because “the Vp is almost here” but the VP did not show up for another 30 minutes.
