@hhpapazian That is not true. You can read about it above. It's hard to talk to someone who doesn't care about facts and doesn't care about empathy. When this is pointed out to you, you hurl insults. It's not the others who refuse to talk. Yet you really wonder why people despair of you?

@typolis We're each trying to talk about what we believe matters and can be bored by the points the other is pushing. That's natural... if one believes public discourse is a duty that transcends its participants, and not at all about convincing any individual. Otherwise one can get upset.

@hhpapazian Don’t you realise we are talking past each other from the beginning? Started by pointing out your language. You want to steer the conversation towards social criticism. I’m honestly not interested in your windmills. Instead, insulting again. Is that how you want to convince?

@typolis I'm not going against social media, I'm trying to confront its dark side. If my purpose were to win hearts I'd just be a phony like the lion's share of people running away from the "right" billionaire. My purpose is to try to do the right thing. The "solution" to what, exactly?

@hhpapazian You’re going against social media, before, arguing for staying on Twitter? Doesn’t seem stringent to me. Trying to create something by turning people against you is not going to achieve anything. Why do you have a problem with other people finding different solutions for them?

@typolis I am trying to create something: an awareness that subverting social media to socialization is anti-societal. twitter.com/hhpapazian/sta… Along the same lines, I believe that going to conferences to have a social life distorts both our social and professional lives.
Hrant Հրանդ Փափազեան Papazian@hhpapazian

This is how too many people use social media, and exactly how not to use it... You cannot have a public social life; that's what real people (people you actually know) are for. Social media instead is a societal duty. And things like Mastodon are poor substitutes for real life.

@hhpapazian Or apologise for it. The way you argue, I think it causes problems for other people too. Isn’t it better to create something instead of breaking it? Beeping at others is not nice. But it's not good for you either, is it?

@hhpapazian You contradict yourself: You are against herd behavior and indivualism. But I don't care, you are welcome to see it that way. Nevertheless, please don't address others and me like that.

@typolis >> Individualism is boring – I'm not targeting any individuals, but the overall psychological fragility, and not necessarily only of type designers, but people in general. And I believe social media with its cozy following and blocking has done this to us. Let's resist that.

@hhpapazian What difficulties? What running, I'm still here, aren’t I? But you are welcome to see it that way. No reason to put me down?

@typolis I don't believe in running away from difficulty. Especially when it's an imaginary difficulty. Some people could have good reason to favor something like Mastodon over Twitter. But what I'm seeing is classic herd behavior; fear not of some external force but of peer rejection.

@hhpapazian With others, I spent the whole weekend volunteering to get this new Mastodon instance up and running. Now that it has been adopted, you rage against it in several posts. You don’t have to accept this service. But why the hate?
