Early 2026 has produced meaningful shifts in both manufacturing and freight indicators. ☑️ The ISM's Manufacturing PMI returned to expansion at 52.6. ☑️ Bank of America’s Truckload Diffusion Indicator reached 60.7, its highest level in nearly four years. ☑️ Late 2025 Cass Freight Index data showed freight shifting unevenly across regions rather than rebounding uniformly. Individually, none of this confirms a clean recovery. But taken together, it suggests a sequencing seen in prior cycles: improvements in forward freight expectations tend to surface operationally in logistics before they appear in factory production data.
