Day 4: Lecture at Makerere University with Dr. Bahiyyah and Howard University students! Discussing Children of Incarcerated Parents - Global Reach. Dr. Bahiyyah shared that, according to her research, children in the USA define success as giving back to their community.

Wells of Hope, in partnership with members of Howard University held an interaction session with inmates at Uganda Prisons Service facilities—Upper Prison and Luzira Women Prison. The engagement focused on inmates whose children are currently under the sponsorship program run.

Children of incarcerated parents face circumstances that increase the risk of poor educational and psychosocial outcomes such as financial hardship and chronic stress. Through counseling sessions, the children learn to cope with the reality that their parents are in prison.
