@westcoastbcfoto @CamBoychuk @msuspartan86 Iโ€™ll just refer back to my initial response. I was only saying that if the CHL doesnโ€™t want to spend money to develop US players, why would US tax payers want to spend money to develop foreign players. I was basically being sarcastic to the original comment I responded to

@westcoastbcfoto @CamBoychuk @msuspartan86 I did not look at revenue from concessions and or apparel. All I can tell you is that, of 63 NCAA D1 programs in 2025, 1 was profitable. Minnesota made a profit of just over 2 million. The others all operated at a deficit. They do want good hockey, as we all do. 1/2

Surprisingly, Hockey Canada has denied exceptional status to American-born Kade Oโ€™Rourke. The 6โ€™1, 180lb defenceman was the projected first overall pick in the upcoming OHL draft. The Oshawa Generals hold that pick.

@CamBoychuk @westcoastbcfoto @msuspartan86 But this was not my point in the beginning. I was replying to the gentleman that said CHL should not develop US players. My response was fine, then no US tax dollars to pay for scholarships to foreign players, which they absolutely do go to.

@CamBoychuk @westcoastbcfoto @msuspartan86 In the 2024-2025 fiscal year, approximately 21 to 25 NCAA athletic departments were considered "profitable" in the sense that they generated more revenue than they spent without relying on institutional subsidies while there are over 1,100 NCAA

@westcoastbcfoto @CamBoychuk @msuspartan86 Almost zero hockey programs are profitable, look it up. All I'm saying is if this person doesn't want a private entity, CHL owners, to pay to develop USA players. Why should USA tax dollars pay to develop foreign (Canadien) players?

@westcoastbcfoto @CamBoychuk @msuspartan86 Not true at all. Very few universities have profitable athletics departments. The vast major of college funding comes for tax dollars. Scholarships are paid with that money. NIL money (as you mention players being paid) does not come from tax dollars. 1/2

@CamBoychuk @msuspartan86 Deal. Then every dollar spent in the form of scholarships, to Canadian players, on the US taxpayer dime can be withdrawal also. Canadian players can play usports instead of NCAA.

@msuspartan86 True. If Hockey Canada and CHL really wanted to make a statement - they would tell all non-Canadians to stay home.

Really great tourney by Lakeville South. They pushed the most winning Moorhead team ever to the brink and are now beating the best Rogers team in their school history in the consolation semis.
