So J Cole doesn’t want to *checks notes* “kick a man when he’s down” (a rapist and domestic abuser) but he had no problem writing snarky bars about Noname for reading and getting more in tuned with black radical tradition? Ok.

Black Children Are Drinking Sewage Water. The Government Has the Money. They Just Don't Care. It rains in Cahokia Heights, Illinois, and the sewage comes up through the floor. Not a metaphor. Not a bureaucratic oversight or a mix-up in paperwork. Raw human waste: E. coli, fecal coliform, the full biological horror of a failed sewer system, backing up into the yards and homes of a city that is 95% Black and among the poorest in the country. Children play in it. Families breathe it. Mothers run the tap and wonder if the water will make their kids sick. A seven-month independent study tested 118 tap-water samples from homes in Cahokia Heights. Twenty-six came back positive for coliform bacteria. Eight tested positive for E. coli. And Illinois American Water's official response? The system "meets standards." This is what the state calls acceptable for Black people. The EPA and the Department of Justice eventually came around, after DECADES of organizing, lawsuits, and residents documenting their own suffering, and reached a consent decree in 2024 requiring roughly $30M dollars in sewer repairs. Thirty million dollars. The U.S. is currently spending approximately $1B per day on the Iran war. ONE BILLION DOLLARS PER DAY. Do the math: the entire Cahokia Heights sewer overhaul costs less than 43 MINUTES of Operation Epic Fury. Not one day. Forty-three minutes. The scarcity is not real. The neglect is a choice. The money is not gone. The money is not scarce. The money is being burned, deliberately, illegally, without a congressional declaration of war, on bombs and missiles while Black families in Illinois boil their tap water and pray. And it doesn't stop there. The same government cutting $1.1 million in already-approved sewer funds from Cahokia Heights is economically strangling Cuba with a blockade that collective bodies of international law have condemned for decades. It illegally abducted the elected president of Venezuela. It's looting Venezuelan gold and oil. It's killing people in the Caribbean in the name of "national security" while children in the Metro East drink contaminated water and nobody in Washington calls THAT a security crisis. This is not a failure of governance. This is the governance we have working EXACTLY as designed under racial capitalism. The same logic that built Cahokia Heights on flood-prone land through segregation, stripped it of industry through deindustrialization, and let its sewer system rot for thirty years while neighboring white suburbs got upgrades. That same logic runs U.S. foreign policy. Black and brown life is disposable. Black and brown land is a dumping ground. When the cost of neglect falls on Black communities and the profit of extraction goes to the ruling class, the system is operating correctly. Residents in Cahokia Heights have been organizing since before many people reading this were born. They formed committees. They collected evidence. They filed lawsuits. They fought the EPA, the state of Illinois, local officials, and their own water utility all at once. They dragged a consent decree out of a federal government that had to be SUED into caring. And now that same federal government is clawing back the funds anyway. The question is not whether the U.S. has the resources to give Black people clean water. It demonstrably does. The question is who the state was built to serve, and who it was built to sacrifice. The answer is visible in Cahokia Heights every time it rains.

NEW: Imagine your water runs brown, smells like poop, your yard floods with sewage every time it rains — and the government still says your water “meets standards” That’s life in Cahokia Heights, a Black town where Congress just cut infrastructure funding capitalbnews.org/cahokia-height…

A $2.5 billion robot has been alone on another planet for 13 years and is still doing science. The scale of that sentence gets worse the longer you think about it. Curiosity landed in August 2012. Obama was president. Instagram had 80 million users. The iPhone 5 hadn’t shipped yet. The rover was designed for a two-year mission and 20 kilometers of driving. It’s now driven 35.5 kilometers, climbed over 327 meters up the side of a mountain, drilled 46 holes into Martian rock, and is currently running its fifth mission extension. The computer running all of this has 256 MB of RAM and a 200 MHz processor. Your AirPods have more computing power. Every command sent from Earth takes 14 minutes to arrive. Every photo sent back takes the same 14 minutes. When Curiosity drills into a rock, the team in Pasadena won’t know if it worked for half an hour. They’ve been operating on that delay, every single day, for 4,846 Martian sols. The power source is 10.6 pounds of plutonium-238 generating about 110 watts. Less than a ceiling fan. It will keep producing electricity for decades because the half-life of Pu-238 is 87.7 years. The rover will run out of moving parts before it runs out of power. And those wheels. Machined from single blocks of aluminum, 0.75 millimeters thick. Half a dime. JPL watched them get shredded by Martian rock starting in 2013, rerouted the entire mission path, taught the rover to drive backwards, and kept going. The wheels look like they lost a fight with a can opener. The rover is still climbing a mountain. Every iPhone you’ve owned since 2012 is in a landfill. Curiosity is on Mars, 140 million miles from the nearest repair shop, running on a ceiling fan’s worth of nuclear power, sending data through a 14-minute time delay, on shredded wheels, doing geology that rewrites what we know about whether life ever existed somewhere other than Earth. We built that. With 0.01% of the federal budget.

🚨Meta can now predict what your brain is thinking. read that again. TRIBE v2 scans how the brain responds to anything we see or hear. movies, music, speech. it creates a digital twin of neural activity and predicts our brain’s reaction without scanning us. trained on 500+ hours of fMRI data from 700+ people. works on people it’s never seen before. no retraining needed. 2-3x more accurate than anything before it. they also open-sourced everything. model weights, code, paper, demo. all of it. free. the stated goal is neuroscience research and disease diagnosis. the unstated implication is that Meta now has a fucking foundation model that understands how our brains react to content/targetted ads 💀 the company that sells our attention to advertisers just pulled out the psychology side of AI. we’re so cooked.
AI at Meta@AIatMeta

Today we're introducing TRIBE v2 (Trimodal Brain Encoder), a foundation model trained to predict how the human brain responds to almost any sight or sound. Building on our Algonauts 2025 award-winning architecture, TRIBE v2 draws on 500+ hours of fMRI recordings from 700+ people to create a digital twin of neural activity and enable zero-shot predictions for new subjects, languages, and tasks.
