Still just a puppy. Trying to comprehend & process what happened to her. Poor Sweetheart is EXHAUSTED by the pain. A DARLING of a dog!! 🐾2-y/o Duke, owner called police to remove Duke after nipped when yanked by the collar while he was at the door barking. Been w/ owner since a puppy. 💔💔💔Mahi is Urgent This Week and He Has Been Flying Under the Radar Whenever a list comes out, I mildly panic about the dogs I have come to know and care about as a volunteer. But I also worry about the ones I have never met or maybe never heard about. The ones that don’t make it to social media or were just a passing mention. Because let’s face it, it is much easier to step up for a dog that pulls at your heart strings. But what about the forgotten dogs - the dogs like Mahi. Mahi has been at the shelter since the beginning of February without a break. That means no foster notes. No cute pics or insights about what a great dog he is out of the shelter. And on the Adoptables FB page, I see one post about Mahi from late February. And from that I know he is cute and cuddly with sad eyes. Mahi has been overstimulated in the shelter. He doesn’t have a great kennel presence. And more recently, he has stopped participating in play group, preferring to just wait at the gate for it to be over. He does not have a strong advocate pulling for him. Someone who knows him well and can tell his story. There has been no one giving you a reason to slow down, pause and think, I choose him for a long term foster or adoption. For a chance at a better life. The sadness in his eyes. That can go away. The shelter stress can be a distant memory. Is he a perfect dog? Probably not. He can pull on the leash, get overstimulated and jump or get a little mouthy. But those are often a reaction to stress. Not a true indication of a dog’s behavior when they are in a safe loving environment. So no, I don’t have a story to tell to make you fall in love with Mahi. All I have is a plea to give him a chance so that his story doesn’t end as an unwanted dog caught in an overcrowded shelter. Mahi is available at Lifelibe Dekalb at 3280 Chamblee Dunwoody.
