🦠 🏉 We monitored 128 players from 4 rugby matches, where 8 infectious players participated. Some players involved in >30 tackles with infectious players. DO PLAYERS BECOME INFECTED AFTER PARTICIPATING WITH SARS-CoV-2 POSITIVE PLAYERS? Now in @BJSM_BMJ eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2…

🚨NEW #OriginalResearch by @drkeithstokes, @westy1609 @23benjones et al. 👉 Exploration of tackles characteristics with high odds of resulting in concussion to tacklers and ball-carriers separately in elite men’s rugby union. Understanding the characteristics of tackler and ball-carrier behaviours that are more likely to result in concussion can inform strategies for concussion reduction for all players. 🏉 Lower tackles reduce the chances of concussion to ball-carriers. The influence of tackle height on concussion to tacklers is more nuanced, but the chances are relatively low when contact is made with the ball-carrier’s torso. 🔗 OA ARTICLE: bit.ly/45jGuW2 #UnderTheSpotlight #WeAreBOSEM

👋 Knowing what to do, does not always end up in you doing what you know. There is much work to be done in preparing players for the tackle-contest👉… Go to My.BokSmart.Com to find out more #BokSmart @playersfund_sa @SportsCapZa1 💪

MEET & GREET THE TEAM … SHARIEF HENDRICKS 💡 What is your main area of research / clinical expertise? My primary research interests are injury prevention, sports performance and athlete welfare, working with populations ranging from community sport to professional athletes. Other research interests include how engaged researchers and stakeholders are in health research and innovation and how medical journals use social media to communicate research. 🌟 What is your motivation to be a member of the BOSEM team? To me, BOSEM represents the future of SEM, which means fresh thinking, new approaches, the opportunity to explore and ultimately change the status quo. 💚 Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work? My family, especially my mom. I come from a family of fruit and veg hawkers. So the notion of work and working hard was instilled in me from a young age. Even to this day, I feel a little bit of guilt when I’m taking a break or on leave. Thankfully though, I’ve come to realise the importance of time off for the creative process and staying productive. @Sharief_H 🔗 FULL-TEXT HERE: bit.ly/4h20znT #WeAreBOSEM #MeetTheTeam
