@xonebros 100%!!! The real problem is too many people building in the web3 space come from crypto and not gaming.

Takes like this have been frustrating me for a while. As a gamer, it’s wild watching "Web3" folks hype things as revolutionary that have existed for over a decade. Just not on a blockchain. Gamified learning? Personalized badges? Interactive experiences? That’s literally what Minecraft and Roblox have been doing in classrooms for years. The idea that NFTs are “transforming education” isn’t visionary. It’s disconnected. You’re not rethinking classroom engagement. You’re rebranding old ideas in Web3 buzzwords and calling it innovation. And it’s constant. The amount of times I’ve heard terms like: “Web3 Marketing,” “Web3 Community Building,” “Web3 [insert thing gaming’s done forever]” is honestly laughable. It’s not new. You’re just new here. And it shows. Maybe if more people in the space actually played games, they’d know that. 🤷‍♂️ “But X1, don’t you work for a ‘Web3’ game?” No, I work for a mobile game that uses some Web3 technologies. And imo, that distinction is everything. I do think Web3 principles like true ownership can work in gaming. They're important. They matter. But I don’t believe there’s any such thing as a “Web3 game.” That term exists mostly to market to Web3 natives, not to gamers. What we do have are games that use some Web3 elements in smart, seamless ways. That’s Upland. And imo? That’s why we’re still here while so many others with bigger budgets and more hype have failed.
