Have you wondered what happens to the waste you can't recycle? It gets sent to make Energy from Waste and generate renewable electricity. Of course, we'd love more items to be recycled, composted, or just not even needed in the first place. Around 110,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste from Buckinghamshire homes was sent to Greatmoor last year - this waste is burnt to generate heat, the heat boils water and creates steam which turns a turbine and generates electricity to power local homes.
