Who remembers PC gaming in the 1990s? If so, what's your favourite game from this era? ... Gaming like it's the 1990s with a CD-ROM classic everyone keeps recommending, that being the original 1995 RTS (real-time strategy) game, Command & Conquer from Westwood Studios. (cont...)

@Barnacules Also, 90% of the examples they show for good uses for their product could be solved by, you know, having a friend or co-worker, or significant other, or even a kid or two and just talking to them.

@Barnacules I will say this. It's annoying how much they're pushing it. And suspicious. Like, I already know that if you're not the customer you're the product, but Google and Microsoft are trying really hard to get me to use their tools and... why?

@Barnacules I think so, its pretty likely but I don't have a way to be totally sure because of the way and timing of things.

@gleb_alexandrov (1) It only works for one person viewing it. It couldn't be a shared experience. (2) The gains are minimal. After the initial "ooh" factor it's not like you're gaining that much information. We don't look at screens while wiggling around.

@cvcadvocate @NoContextHumans There's also a lot of cherry picking in these videos. Do I believe that *generally* this is representative of these different countries. Maybe. But I'm not going to take a 30 second edited video as proof of anything. But I can't afford to fly these days anyways.

@NoContextHumans These guys are overworked possibly in a very busy airport. Not an excuse but some of them might be feeling irritable by the repetitive tedious job.

POKÉMON GO PLAYERS TRAINED 30 BILLION IMAGE AI MAP Niantic says photos and scans collected through Pokémon Go and its AR apps have produced a massive dataset of more than 30 billion real-world images. The company is now using that data to power visual navigation for delivery robots, letting them identify exact locations on city streets without relying on GPS. Source: NewsForce

It just struck me that Daft Punk could probably send robots on tour and audiences would totally go for it. They always kept their masks on, and were mostly hidden behind banks of equipment anyway. Granted Kraftwerk already did the animatronic robots on tour thing, but with modern robots they could actually push buttons and trigger the hardware on stage. Except that one of the reason Thomas Bangalter cited for ending Daft Punk was progress in AI and related technologies "As much as I love this character, the last thing I would want to be, in the world we live in, in 2023, is a robot."

@agichronicles @DJSnM The problem isn't that robots have the ability to help humans. It's that the first thing we did with them was steal human creativity without consent and against copyright and and left humans digging the ditches. The robot future that was supposed to free us turned into dystopia.

@DJSnM so he pushed the robotic aesthetic for decades and used machines to make the music and when machines become real with a huge potential to help humanity, he despises them...artists...
