Job Description: Drone Engineer & Maker (Miami, FL – Nights & Weekends, Potential Full-Time/co-founder) About the Role We are looking for a hands-on drone builder in Miami, FL, who can design, build, and set up small drones using 3D printing, CAD, and embedded systems. This is a nights and weekends position with the potential to transition into a full-time role or co-founder. The ideal candidate is a maker, engineer, or hobbyist with experience in drone assembly, wiring, soldering, software setup, and troubleshooting. They should be comfortable working independently, solving technical challenges, and pushing boundaries in drone design. Key Responsibilities •Design and prototype drones using 3D printing and CAD software. •Assemble and wire components, including flight controllers, ESCs, motors, and batteries. •Solder small electronic components and troubleshoot electrical issues. •Set up and configure software, including firmware, flight control tuning, and radio communication. •Assist with troubleshooting hardware and software issues related to drone performance. •Work nights and weekends on an exciting project with the potential for a full-time role. Required Skills & Qualifications •Hands-on experience building drones (fixed-wing, multirotor, or custom designs). •Proficiency with CAD software (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar) for drone part design. •Experience with 3D printing, including material selection and optimizing prints for strength and weight. •Ability to solder small electronics, including surface-mount components and fine wiring. •Understanding of flight controllers (Betaflight, Ardupilot, PX4), ESCs, and power systems. •Experience configuring and troubleshooting firmware/software on embedded systems. •Ability to work independently and problem-solve technical challenges. Preferred Qualifications •Familiarity with AI or machine vision applications for drones. •Knowledge of radio communication protocols (ExpressLRS, Crossfire, SBUS). •Experience working with LiPo batteries, safety protocols, and power management. •Understanding of ultra-lightweight drone design and aerodynamics.
