What BAND created THEIR OWN genre???

I was thinking of how they blend in the intersection where progressive rock meets jazz fusion. Songs from the first 4 albums, in particular. Kinda like the thing with Korn, where you could easily argue that they ‘invented’ nu metal… but purists and autists will always find other pioneers and inventors. Like Anthrax w/ Public Enemy, or RATM, others. But Korn crystallized it. And to me, Phish seems to have crystallized prog rock-jazz fusion. Though others, like say, an Al Di Meola was really earlier. Miles Davis was slated to work with Jimi Hendrix, but then Jimi passed.

@528_Herts @DaddarioandCo Hey Pugs, I havn’t seen them. Funny you say dunlop, one of my fave pick I use is the 1mm Dunlop Stubby. But these are Lexan Plastic though. Not tried the nylon ones yet. The custom picks from DAddrio are celluloid plastic.

Really interested to see where his career may have gone… what kind of sounds and genres and hooks he’d come up with… projects he’d work on… who he’d collab with. Despite being pigeon-holed in the 90’s wave of pop punk, the guy was a good songwriter, and had such a unique tone of voice. Could well have gone on to have an even more storied and legendary career!
