@SlugboysENT Look into the Roland T-1000, looks like it might have the best elements of the Octatrack and more. But I can’t fully stamp it cause I never used it personally.

@647wavegod I have always wanted to give the Octatrack a shot from some breakdowns I've seen and how good it is for techno. I might try and snag one. Thanks man, you're one of my fav producers out of Canada. Always nice to see us making good music.

As a sample-based producer, I’ve used almost every machine over the past two decades — from the ASR-10 to the MPC1000 to the Octatrack and beyond. In 2026, I still think the Octatrack is the best sampler ever made. And it’s over 15 years old.

@SlugboysENT Trust me, that’s why they should have put the Octatrack sampler algorithm in a simple machine like the Digitakt. They would be in the conversation a lot more.

@DJMickeyKnox Trust me, it’s good enough. All these machines are the same shit repackaged in a new body. The sampler engine peaked with the Octatrack in 2011 (15 years ago) the company that made it can’t even recreate it lol. I do love the 404 mk2 tho. A laptop and your favorite daw is enough.
