"I had the option to join Tottenham [in the summer of 2019] and I was really happy to join them, but it didn't happen.
“Then in January [2020], I got the call [from Manchester United] that I'd been HOPING for over 2/3 years.
“My reaction when I found out? I knew something was up, but after what happened with Tottenham, when it was practically done, I did NOT want to focus on the transfer window.
“My agent called me and told me that United was a concrete option and that they already had an agreement [with Sporting] and that everything depended on me.
“For a few seconds, I didn't say anything because I was CRYING.
“It was everything I'd ever dreamed of. I just said to my agent: 'I don't want to know anything else, just tell them I'm coming.’
