@9amben How wonderful that you were able to save a few reminders of that beautiful garden — that's a lovely thought. I wish I'd been able to do the same with Alan, although I did manage to save some cuttings from another garden nearby, levelled a few years ago, that I still miss.

Thinking today of my late neighbour Alan, who died a few years ago now. Today, his modest bungalow is being largely demolished in order to be rebuilt as three-storey house. I am sad, though, to see the garden has been stripped away. His late wife had planted it, & he loved it.

One year ago today, I got the keys to my tired old house. We were both a little broken but together we’ve stripped back, started healing & started to thrive. Here’s to my small but mighty stone home, glowing with her pink front door. 🩷

It’s Red Arrows Day. They are flying North at 12.58pm on the county border reaching Leicester itself at 12.59pm Rothley 1pm then turning West over Coalville at 1.01pm! Don’t miss them!

21 Years ago today I began on BBC Leicester as a Weather contributor! Monica Winfield was starting a new Sat am show and she gave me a slot on this and as they say the rest is history! I did 6 years on Sat am and worked with many wonderful people and I have continued to do so since!

@fugitiveink I was thinking the same. Like the summer is clinging on, but autumn is anxious to get cracking. There’s even the faint smell of autumn on this evening’s warm breeze.

There's a surprisingly strong breeze out of the southwest tonight, and while it's very warm, it also somehow feels as if it's blowing away one season with the next one rushing in right behind it

Rainfall figures for Leicestershire. Since February 1st just 38% of the expected total. West Midlands just 40%. So we are missing 2/3 of the expected rainfall!

I’m taking VR and leaving DMU on 31 July. It has been a very difficult decision, as I feel I am leaving colleagues and friends in the lurch, and letting them and the students down.
