A new pipeline is not just good for Alberta, it’s good for Canada. More revenue, more investment, and more jobs to build a stronger, more secure and independent future for Canada—I joined CBC to talk about it.

When Alberta stands strong, Ottawa listens. Our province is on track to double our energy production in the coming years, beginning with the pipeline to the West Coast that will move more than 1 million additional barrels of Alberta oil per day to new markets— with construction targets as early as September 2027. We have also successfully pushed back on harmful federal policies by securing an elimination on the oil and gas production cap, stopping net-zero power regulations from being imposed on Alberta, ensuring Alberta companies are no longer censored under "greenwashing" provisions, and reducing severe, planned increases to the Trudeau-era industrial carbon tax. These are big wins for Alberta workers, families, and our economy. See more from today’s announcement: alberta.ca/release.cfm?xI…

Great news Alberta! A critical milestone has been reached under the Canada-Alberta energy agreement (MOU) so that our province can expect approval from the Federal Major Projects Office for actual construction of the West Coast Pipeline on or before September 1, 2027. When achieved, this would be the fastest approval of a major oil pipeline from Alberta in a generation! This project will deliver 1,000,000 new barrels of Alberta oil every single day to new Asian markets, creating jobs, strengthening our economy, and generating a phenomenal amount of wealth for Albertans and Canadians for decades to come. And just as importantly, Alberta has successfully fought to permanently end Justin Trudeau’s punitive oil and gas production cap and roll back his absurdly high industrial carbon price to a much more realistic level that will save our job creators over $250 billion and protect the livelihoods of Alberta workers. This is what happens when Alberta stands strong.

Today, I was proud to convene the inaugural meeting of Alberta’s Premier’s Investment Council. This group brings together some of the top leaders from government, finance, energy, technology, Indigenous investment, agriculture, tourism, and economic development to help Alberta compete for the next generation of major global investment. The goal is simple: move faster, work smarter, remove barriers, and make sure Alberta remains the best place in North America to invest, build, create jobs, and grow a business. From AI and aerospace to energy and defence, Alberta is competing for billions in new investment and this council will help ensure we seize those opportunities for future generations.

Strong fiscal management in uncertain times is helping to ensure Alberta’s credit rating remains strong 💪
Nate Horner@NateHornerAB

The @SPGlobalRatings affirmed Alberta’s AA- rating with a stable outlook, saying the province is managing its finances well despite challenging economic conditions.   The credit rating agency highlighted Alberta’s experienced fiscal management, strong cost control, prudent debt management, and detailed budgeting.   S&P says Alberta remains in a stronger financial position than most provinces, with lower debt and strong cash reserves including the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund.

It was great joining MLA Brandon Lunty for a fun event in his constituency last night. Brandon is a strong advocate for his community and someone who works tirelessly to support the families, businesses, and residents of Leduc-Beaumont. His commitment to the people he serves is clear every single day. Thank you to everyone who came out to support Alberta’s conservative movement. We remain strong because of grassroots supporters who continue showing up, getting involved, and fighting for a stronger future for our province.

Alberta’s classrooms are growing fast, and parents and teachers have made it clear that class size matters. That’s why our government is investing $200 million through a new Class Size Reduction Grant to help hire more than 1,400 additional teachers and reduce pressure in K-to-Grade 9 classrooms across the province. This builds on the largest operational investment in education in Alberta’s history, alongside 161 new school projects underway across our province. We’re taking practical action to support students, teachers, and families by improving learning conditions and ensuring Alberta’s education system keeps pace with our growing population. What an incredible night in North Edmonton. The energy in the room, the sold-out crowd, and the growing support we’re seeing across the city are a reminder that more and more Edmontonians are connecting with our message of safer communities, economic growth, lower taxes, and common sense government. But none of this happens on its own. It happens because of grassroots conservatives who keep showing up, knocking doors, having conversations, and standing up for the future they want for Alberta and their families. Thank you for everyone who showed up, including colleagues Brandon Lunty, Jennifer Johnson, and Searle Turton @SearleTurton who took questions from the audience.

It was a pleasure meeting with His Excellency Muhsin Syihab @muhsinsyihab Ambassador of Indonesia 🇮🇩 to Canada, to discuss the growing partnership between Alberta and Indonesia. Together, we see strong opportunities in energy, agriculture, investment, and innovation. Alberta looks forward to continue working with Indonesia to strengthen trade, support energy security, and create economic opportunity for both our regions.

A fair question by David Akin on what a new west coast pipeline would mean to Albertans. And yes, while energy development and economic growth matters, Albertans also continue to have serious concerns with how the federal government under Justin Trudeau managed issues like immigration, gun grab, provincial rights, and Ottawa respecting Alberta’s place in Confederation. We have some more work to do to give Albertans confidence in these areas. Tune in 👇

It is currently estimated at 80 hectares and burning out of control. Wind conditions are pushing the fire east, away from the Town of Whitecourt, it has remained south of Highway 43. Alberta Wildfire is responding alongside Woodlands County, Yellowhead County, Lac Ste. Anne County, and the Town of Whitecourt Fire Department. Crews are working closely with municipal partners to share wildfire behaviour information and ensure a coordinated response. Mothers are the heart of our homes and families. Their love, strength, sacrifice, and encouragement shape who we become. And today, I want to thank my mom, Sharon, for everything she has done for me throughout my life. Your love and support have meant more than words can say. Happy Mother’s Day to every mom, grandmother, stepmom, foster mom, and mother figure across our province.
