NEW: A federal court blocked key provisions of Texas’ extreme immigration enforcement law S.B. 4 (2023). Immigration enforcement is exclusively a federal issue and not up to the states. Texas should stop wasting time trying to override the U.S. Constitution.

S.B. 4 would separate families, fuel racial profiling, and pull Texas into a role the Constitution reserves for the federal government. We, ACLU, and Texas Civil Rights Project are asking the court for emergency relief to stop it before harm begins.

BREAKING: We and partners filed a class-action lawsuit to block provisions of Senate Bill 4 before May 15. This law would allow police to arrest, detain, and remove people they suspect entered Texas without federal authorization.
