ADB and Solomon Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA) have signed an agreement to support Solomon Islands’ first privately financed grid-connected solar power project in Honiara. The agreement was signed today by SIEA CEO Delia Homelo and ADB Solomon Islands Country Director Anthony Gill. With diesel currently supplying 98% of power generation on the Honiara grid, the project aims to reduce fuel dependence, strengthen energy security, attract private investment, and support Solomon Islands’ renewable energy transition. ADB will provide transaction advisory support through its Office of Markets Development and Public-Private Partnership.
