“Mossbourne is not rebuilding trust - it is still closing ranks.” Months on from the damning safeguarding report, Mossbourne leaders continue to pay lip service to change, while children at their schools continue to experience harm. 👇
Andy Leary-May@learymay

Finally, Mossbourne has responded to the damning safeguarding review from 3 months ago. The review author, Sir Alan Wood, outlined two ways in which they could do this - acknowledge the findings and make real change, or dismiss, dig-in, and continue the harm…

@AdamHighcliffe @FifiDeLyonBliss Maybe. By the way, nearly all European countries require children who do not reach a minimum standard to repeat the year. Even at primary school. Should the UK adopt that system too?

On school uniform... Even among Teacher Tapp users, 46% of secondary school respondents say they don't want smart uniform. For primaries, 77% of staff don't want smart uniform. Parents don't want it. Kids don't want it. This is the 21st century, not the 19th. Let's move on.

@thefish64 @FifiDeLyonBliss The key point, which you've most helpfully illustrated, is that culturally almost all the nations most similar to us don't commonly have uniform. Let alone ties & blazers.

@FifiDeLyonBliss @AdamHighcliffe Most of the worlds countries have some sort of uniform. In Japan, the uniform rules in most schools were just as strict as UK.

🎯 “I don't think it's the children's fault. The children are the same as they’ve always been… but as a society we’ve changed what childhood is, & it’s not for the better.” 🎯 Time to stop demonising kids & start listening to them. What's being demanded of them needs to change.
Mr P MBE@ICT_MrP

asked teachers who’ve been in the classroom longer than 15 years what the biggest change has been. Thousands replied, I’ve collated them with a little help from Al 😉 Here’s a run down of what came out... If you’ve been teaching 15+ years... does this reflect your experience?

@AdamHighcliffe Don't. I took on a secondary school with pants, polos and sweatshirts as uniform. Awful, shapeless, faded things, kids had no pride. We surveyed them and they chose a shirt and jumper with the school logo. Smart and practical, they loved it. 1/2

🚨A pastoral, relational approach to behaviour reduced exclusions, reduced absences, & improved wellbeing for both kids & teachers. The 2-year independent evaluation covered 2,600 schools participating in the Thrive programme, which uses a trauma-informed approach. Short 🧵
