@strobist Kodak doesnt make bw paper any more these days it’s basically foma and ilford. Theyre both nice, but ilford’s paper is the better of the two, and you can get it in giant sizes. I have facilities to do 20x24 from up to a 4x5 negative. Looking for a worthy project though.
English

@strobist the same skull photo i shared on flickr, except this was shot with different light pattern and was shot on foma 200 bw 4x5 with a 300mm lens. This is 11x14 darkroom print. 1 of 3 total prints. Crappy cell phone photo doesnt do it justice. Ilford paper looks awesome

@strobist taking the $3 shower curtain idea and extending it to a small dedicated passport/identification photo booth. No setup/teardown. People in/out in minutes and it makes excellent looking light in space the size of a walk in closet.

English

@strobist Those $3 target brand shower curtains are the best bang for the buck ever. I have some variations coming up that should be interesting
English

@strobist Nice. Well, I sell on Amazon, Walmart, eBay, and soon Newegg. I’m always looking for inventory fulfillment opportunities and usually have at least some free inventory space, and have shipping logistics experience, so feel free to reach out when needed
English

@strobist Purchased. I’m an Amazon merchant (all film/photography related stuff) I see you’re using Amazon’s fulfillment services. If you ever want to self fulfill and want a west coast shipping center, I can make space in my inventory, just let me know, I’d be happy to.

@drdrew dad is back home. Life is going back to the normal shit.
English

@drdrew dad stabilized, kidneys working again, has severe UTI and sepsis, docs have him on oral & drip antibiotics. Should be getting a lot better next couple days. I’m not as worked up as yesterday. I was doing really good & that really set me off for some reason 🙄
English

@drdrew hey. It’s OK if you don’t remember me. I used to tweet to you about my dad a lot circa -2010. He’s been fading since. Heart disease, diabetes, prostate cancer. Admitted last night with kidney failure. I’m finding myself kind of a unplanned wreck.
English

@strobist I have that meter and use it every day. The little 6 next to the 4 is 1/10th stop increments, so the reading is f/4 and 6/10ths. The big number is full stop increments the little number next to it is 1/10 increments
English

@strobist At technically your meter says f/4 and 6/10ths, so ~1/3 stop less than f/5.6, so you’re a lot closer to a stop overexposed at f/3.8 and 1/400
English

@strobist Not enough to matter unless shooting chrome. Negative film is extremely forgiving of over exposure. The worst thing you can do is under expose.
English

@strobist Heh… just for paid work alone, I’m in the 4-7 range, total is well over dozen. At least two each for digital FF and APS-C and at least one for every film format from 135 up to 8x10

@strobist I’d rate it a terrible photo simply from a portrait perspective because it’s bad form to put one persons head directly above another persons head. It just looks weird, besides the other issues.
English

@strobist “just turn on the overheads” yeah, I could, but I’ve gotten spoiled with having really great modeling lights on my old lights and a *giant* white wall that gives a wonderful wash of light when hit with 120 watts of 5600K high CRI LED modeling lights. *sigh*
Petaluma, CA 🇺🇸 English

@strobist ok, I’ve had a couple days with the new Godox kit. For on location, it’s quite good. For in studio, not so much. Why? I use the modeling lights to… actually light the studio, and the 400w/s is the only light with a reasonable modeling light.

@strobist jump executed. 2x speed lights, 4x 200s, 1x 400, 2x triggers, plus recommended accessories. That will get me off to the races plus mildly backed up for paid work. I’ve slated 2x 400s and 1x 1200 for the future. Should be here wed-Thurs.
Petaluma, CA 🇺🇸 English

@strobist Adorama has the 400 in a kit sale $599 per. I can go a full setup of speed lights and 400s that covers most of my paid work for ~$3300 then add the 1200 Pro later.
Petaluma, CA 🇺🇸 English

@strobist 2/2 At this point I'm ready to just get on one radio system and a unified light ecosystem. The AD300 Pro is closest to my current OCF power, and the 1200 Pro is for the big guns and LF film work. Just fishing for thoughts.
